and bring new and creative views to the way they manage their projects. A special emphasis was on group discussions, interactive learning, networking and having fun. The GYCW can be considered the premium IPMA event for young project managers and people building a career in project management.

Hotel Westin Playa Bonita Business & Convention Center Mr Wagner, IPMA President, was very happy with the successful congress, and commented ”The event at Panama was a milestone for IPMA. Firstly, because it was the first event in Latin America, showing the dynamic development of the region. IPMA is represented in fifteen countries and expects more to join in the coming years. The event was organised by colleagues from LATNET, the regional network of IPMA, coordinated by the association of Panama. Secondly, the congress at Panama celebrated the 50th Anniversary of IPMA, which is the world´s first project management association. Kicked-off in Europe as network for experience exchange on network planning techniques, it nowadays is a very vibrant network of national project management associations with diverse activities and cultural backgrounds. Finally, two new global standards were released during the congress, the IPMA Individual Competence Baseline (IPMA ICB®) and the IPMA Project Excellence Baseline (IPMA PEB®). Together with the IPMA Organisational Competence Baseline (IPMA OCB®) the IPMA and its members can offer a complete suite of standards for various target groups and purposes. This will help IPMA achieving its vision of Promoting competence throughout society to enable a world in which all projects succeed.” Mr Wagner can be contacted at [email protected] .

Mr Reyes G., APGP President, was very pleased with the congress, and said “We at APGP and LATNET are very happy that expectations of participants were fulfilled. We did all possible effort to give the IPMA family a taste of the Latin culture. It was an honour for us to host the celebration of IPMA 50th anniversary and the 10th year of the Young Crews. We strongly believe that IPMA is consolidating in the Americas and the Panamanian society was able to experience a sample of the best Project Program Portfolio Management in the world. The congress program, which included more than 100 speakers, among them government officials the Russian Federation, Korea and China, CEOs of worldwide recognized organizations, met the congress theme of multicultural context. In addition, within the congress content, the first Project Management Excellence Convention (PMX) of LATNET was held. PMX will become the regional IPMA events in Latin America. Finally, we were able to show, all participants, our country. We are pretty sure that most came for the Panama Canal, but stay for everything else.” Mr Reyes G. can be contacted at [email protected] .
