ENBE | Final Project | Part A – Report | The Future City Representation

Towns and cities have a long history, although opinions vary on whether any particular ancient settlement can be considered to be a city. A city formed as central places of trade for the benefit of the members living in close proximity to others facilitates interaction of all kinds. These interactions generate both positive and negative externalities between others' actions. Benefits include reduced transport costs, exchange of ideas, sharing of natural resources, large local markets, and later in their development, amenities such as running water and sewage disposal. Possible costs would include higher rate of crime, higher mortality rates, higher cost of living, worse pollution, traffic and high commuting times. Cities will grow when the benefits of proximity between people and firms are higher than the cost.

3.1. When did it start? History and all.

The Caracol area was occupied as early as 1200 BC, yet occupation in the epicentral area was no earlier than 650 BC and lasted no later than AD 950. Caracol boasts 53 carved stone monuments (25 stelae and 28 altars), and more than 250 burials and 200 caches.

3.3What makes is a significant city and what are the details?

Caracol is the name given to a large ancient Maya archaeological site, located in what is now the Cayo District of Belize. It is situated approximately 40 kilometres south of Xunantunich and the town of San Ignacio Cayo, and 15 kilometers away from the Macal River. It rests on the Vaca Plateau at an elevation of 500 meters above sea-level, in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. Long thought to be a tertiary center, it is now known that the site was one of the most important regional political centers of the Maya Lowlands during the Classic Period  Caracol covered approximately 200 square kilometers, covering an area much larger than present-day Belize City (the largest metropolitan area in the country) and supported more than twice the modern city's population

Oklahoma , U.S

4.1.When did it start ?History and all

Oklahoma City is the capital and the largest city in the U.S state. The county seat of Oklahoma County, the city ranks 30th among United States cities in population. The city's population, from the 2010 census, was 580,000, with a metro-area population of 1,252,987. Consisting of over 1.2 million people, it is Oklahoma's largest metropolitan area. In 2010, the Oklahoma City-Shawnee Combined Statistical Area had a population of 1,322,249 residents.  Oklahoma City's city limits extend into Canadian, Cleveland, and Pottawatomie counties, though much of those areas outside of the core Oklahoma County area are suburban or rural .The city ranks as the eighth-largest city in the United States by land area (including consolidated city-counties; it is the second-largest city in the United States by land area whose government is not consolidated with that of a county).

History

History of Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City was first settled on April 22, 1889, when the area known as the "unassigned lands" (that is, land in Indian territory that had not been assigned to any tribes) was opened for settlement in an event known as "The Land Run". Some

4.3.What makes is a significant city and what are the details? Oklahoma City is served by an extensive freeway network. The city's

network serves every major city in the region and are 6-8 lanes. Most have a level of congestion significantly lower than most comparably sized cities. In fact, OKC's freeways are rarely congested with the "stop and go" commuter patterns of other major cities. It is often said that one can get from any part of the OKC Metro area to downtown in 30 minutes or less by freeway. The city streets are on a N-S-E-W grid network with major streets one mile separated.

4.3. What makes is a significant city and what are the details? This the zoning of Oklahoma City, it's very tidy. Oklahoma County has

been on the disaster list 38 times, more than the entire state of New Jersey. Caddo County, just west of the Oklahoma City metro area, has been named a federal disaster area nine times since 2007, with a litany of woe that includes twisters, floods, ice storms, a blizzard and hurricane. MADILL, Oklahoma A small earthquake shook near the town of Madill, located in Marshall County, in southern Oklahoma and
