About usFounded in 1926, Youngman is one of the most respected work at height companies in the world.

Since 2011, Youngman India has served the Indian market with the same expertise and profes-sionalism, working with reputed companies such as TATA, L&T, Shapoorji Pallonji, Bluestar and many more on thousands of projects.

In addition to ladder manufacture, Youngman India has now come to represent the leading name in scaffolding rental & hire, providing mobile towers to clients across India. These aluminium towers are mobile, lightweight and are relied on by leading companies to keep their workforce safe.

Company HistoryWC Youngman Ltd was founded by Charles Youngman on the first day of the National Strike in 1926.

Charles Youngman died in 1967, and WC Youngman was then acquired by SGB Group PLC in 1969. Seventeen years later, SGB Group was, in turn, acquired by Mowlem PLC.

By 1992, SGB and Youngman had merged to form SGB Youngman. Five years later, SGB was re-floated by Mowlem, and then acquired by Harsco Corporation in 2000.

In October 2005, a management team bought out Youngman, backed by Matrix Private Equity Partners. The company was renamed Youngman Group Ltd.

Youngman India was formed as a subsidiary of the UK-based Youngman Ltd. in 2010, since 2013, Youngman India has operated as a privately-owned, Indian-led company.

Youngman India builds on this nearly 100-year old history as a ladder manufacturer, bringing the same design and manufacturing expertise to the Indian market. This allows us to provide world-class safety products for sale online, through our distributor network, and ladders and scaffolding for rent in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and across India. We have presence in Nepal and Sri Lanka too.

Safety ChecklistIs the workstation in good condition (see Equipment Care & Inspection sections)

The total load (1 person plus tools & materials) should not be more than 150kg

The 4 castors are pointing outwards and the wheel brakes are locked

The guardrail is up and both diagonals are locked

The work station is on flat, level, dry and firm ground

The work station is correctly positioned to avoid over reaching

The platform is at the correct height and the foot pedal safety catch is locked

The stabilisers are fully extended and the stabiliser locking handles are tight

The safety gate is shut and locked, once you are on the platform

Equipment care

Every time, before you use the work station, carry out the 6-point inspection detailed in the following section.

Never use the work station if any part is damaged or shows signs of excessive wear. Only use this piece of equipment for it’s intended purpose, as a work station.

Store the work station somewhere clean, dry and safe. The work station may be stored in the raised or lowered position.

Keep the work station clean, especially the plywood platform and the treads of the ladder section. This is easier if you clean it regularly.

Do not use excessive force to operate the work station mechanisms.

6 Point inspection procedure

1 Check all 4 castors are secure and the fixing bolts are tightened correctly.

2 Check all 4 wheel brakes operate and lock the wheel and the castor rotation.

3 Check the tubes and aluminium components of the workstation. There should not be any cracks or excessive dents or distortion.

4 Check there is free movement of the telescopic base section and all the hinge points of the work station.

5 Check the plywood platform. There should not be excessive contamination, cracking, holes or damage including any missing or damaged rivet fixings.

6 Check the following work station locking mechanisms are operating and locking correctly: guardrail diagonal centre locks, guardrail safety gate lock, foot pedal interlock, foot pedal safety catch.

Fork Extensions (#783691)With the push of a button, forks may be extended from 71cm to 106cm. With longer forks, the weight capacity decreases in accordance with the data shown on the yellow decal attached to the back of the lift and in clear sight of the lift operator.
