QUICK FACTS final stop: orange countyReno looks to close out the longest road trip of the season with three points against Orange County. The trip kicked off last Wednesday with a 3-2 comeback win over OKC Energy FC, and the boys in blue followed it up with a 2-1 win Saturday night in LA. This is just the fourth time Reno has ever had a road trip of three or more games, and the team has never won three matches on a single road trip. The team went 1-0-3 during a four game road trip last season, and went 2-1-1 in 2017.

stringing them togetherReno is riding a five-match winning streak, tied for the second longest in franchise history. The longest win streak in franchise history was a six-game streak in 2017, and the previous five game streak was set in 2018.

RENO LOOKS TO WRAP UP ROAD TRIP WITH WIN IN ORANGE COUNTYTEAM IS RIDING FIVE-GAME WIN STREAK

RENO, Nev. – Winners of five in a row, Reno 1868 FC rolls into Irvine, Calif. for an afternoon matchup with Orange County SC on Wednesday. The match is the third and final of a week-long road trip for the boys in blue, with the team beating LA Galaxy II on Saturday to move to 11-4-5 on the season.

“We’ve played Orange County this season, it was a 2-2 draw at home where we felt like we should’ve gotten three points,” said head coach Ian Russell. “It’s a good team but I think we match up well with them.”

The boys in blue enter the match holding on to the second place spot in the USL’s Western Conference. Reno currently has the third most points in the entire league, and boasts the third most goals in the league with 43.

Reno is closing in on two potential pieces of franchise history. A win on Wednes-day would extend the win streak to six, matching a franchise record set in 2017. A win would also mark the first time in franchise history that the team went on a three-game road trip, and won all three matches. Previously, Reno had gone 1-0-3 on a four-game streak, but 1868 has never won more than two matches on a single road trip.

Saturday’s win over LA Galaxy II came by a score of 2-1, despite Los Dos outshoot-ing Reno.

“We didn’t play our best, but we ended up getting three points,” said Russell. “The sign of a good team is winning these kind of sloppy games where you don’t play great.”

Orange County enters the match with a record of 5-7-8 to sit in 14th place in the west. Playing at home, Orange County is 4-3-3.

Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. PT, and the match will be streamed on ESPN+. The match will conclude the road trip, and Reno will be back home Saturday night for a 7:15 p.m. PT tilt with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Tickets are available at reno1868fc.com or the Greater Nevada Field box office.
