Wind EnergyRight now, 10% of the worlds energy comes from renewable sources. (Wind, biomass fuels, ect.) By 2030, we plan to double that, to 20%. Wind energy makes 40% of that 10%. Wind energy is one of the major renewable sources for energy in the world.

Biomass Fuels

Biomass fuels are a great renewable recourse because one of the biomass fuels are trees, and trees will never run out. Biomass fuels right now make up 10% of the world’s energy. Fossil fuels do about 80% of the work, but they are running out.

Hydroelectricity

Hydroelectricity is a great source of power because water in the world is always moving. It is harnessed by a dam, which the water goes through to turn a turbine, which produces electricity. Today, about 7% of the worlds power comes from hydroelectric energy.

Solar Energy

The sun basically provides all the heat for our solar system. Today about 0.2% of the worlds energy comes from the sun. It’s a small number, but growing fast.

Geothermal Heat

If you were to go deep underground, you would melt by the heat. Heat is what makes steam. Steam can turn things by pressure. So basically you then have a water dam but with steam instead of water turning the turbine. 0.3% of the electricity in the world comes from geothermal heat.

Facts

Renewable energy does not cost any money, because it comes from sources such as sunshine, flowing water, wind, and biological waste, all of which are free. Fossil fuels are limited in their supply, and their price will increase as they become scarcer.

Facts

Renewable energy supplies will never run out. The supplies of coal, oil, and natural gas are limited, but sunshine, wind, biomass, and water power are considered almost limitless resources.

Renewable Energy

Until recently renewable energy sources were the main energy sources. 150 years ago, wood, which is one form of biomass fuel, supplied up to 90% of our energy needs. Only recently have we been tapping into fossil fuels, and they not only will run out, but they also cause pollution which leads to global warming.
