Remote Instruction: November 30 - December 4

In an abundance of caution, Nassau BOCES will switch to remoteinstruction for the week following the Thanksgiving holiday break,

November 30 through December 4. The agency is doing thisto minimize possible exposures to COVID-19 following the holiday.

LIHSA's Food Donation!

Thank you to everyone in our LIHSA community who donated food this fall.Our student leaders chose St. Nicholas Food Pantry as the recipients and thephoto includes the Suffolk County Legislature, Babylon Town Board,volunteers from the St. Nicholas Food Pantry and LIHSA's PTSA Co-PresidentColleen Compitello. Our collective efforts were meaningful and veryappreciated.

ABT Residency Concludes

This year, the Ballet I students at LIHSA were fortunate to have Mr. RichardToda from ABT for a 6 week residency. Working on the fundamental principlestaught within the ABT curriculum, the students grew in their ballet techniqueand artistry. From understanding the correct port de bras at the barre to theproper pirouette preparation, the students will take these lessons with them asthey move on to Ballet II and beyond! Our sincerest thank you to Mr. Toda andABT for this invaluable experience.

Call for Photography Submissions: The Art Guild

The Art Guild invites all photographers and artists, high school and older, tosubmit photography for consideration for My “20/20” World PhotographyShow, an Online Juried Competition and Exhibition. There is a separateaward for high school students.

What is your “20/20” vision? The past year limited our access to the world andposed unprecedented challenges. It also sparked our creativity. Wephotographed indoors; or, mask in place, we ventured out to capture newimages. Perhaps past work came to mind and we used this time to review orrevise it. Show us art that shines through a difficult time. Your work will beexhibited in an online gallery.

CRITERIA All photographic genre are welcome: portraits, landscapes,photojournalism, macro photography and composites. All work must beoriginal. Submitted work must be the artist’s own. Works previously exhibited atThe Art Guild Gallery will not be considered. More information on theirwebsite.

2020 Worlds AIDS Day and Summit

The New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute will be holding its 22ndAnnual World AIDS Day Event and the 2020 Ending the Epidemic Summit onDecember 1-3, 2020. This virtual event is free to registrants.

World AIDS Day is intended to provide a learning experience for middle andhigh school students across New York State and can benefit studentsregardless of their school’s learning model -- in person, hybrid or remote.For registration information or go to the NYSDOH World AIDS Day website.
