About the project

My colleague Laurence Elliott and I, in partnership with others at Morley College and also with colleagues based at Roehampton University, have been testing ways of achieving differing kinds of communicative interaction through the use of video conferencing software.

So far, through our experiments with remote exchange, we have looked at:

- Compositional / choreographic exchange - the dynamic organisation of constituent elements (people, words, ideas, objects) in time and space

- Development of technological and cultural fluency – exploring how best we might interact according to given needs and interests and finding out about the possibilities and constraints associated with video conferencing

Those involved in remote exchange are:

Primary participants-in-exchange – those taking part in the actual exchange activity

Observing participants – those who act as audience, providing an outside eye, giving feedback

Facilitating participants – the technical team
