Mark 14:66-72 NIV• 66 While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67 When she

saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him. “You also were with that

Nazarene, Jesus,” she said. 68 But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,” he said,

and went out into the entryway. 69 When the servant girl saw him

there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.”

• 70 Again he denied it. After a little while, those standing near said to

Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.” 71 He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”72 Immediately the

rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had

spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times.” And he broke down and wept.

Page 5: Reminders from the life of Peter

What is the implication of the word “warm”?

• A; Speaks of natural Condition (Dawn time)- Peter start his day by denying the lord Jesus 3 times.

• It is important to start the day right. This is the primary purposed of Jesus teaching Peter to be wise in starting his day.

• whatever success of the entire day depends of how you start your day.• John 15;5 “without me you can do

nothing”

•B;speaks of Spiritual condition

•Peter was warmed, he forgot his calling to be a fishers of men. His heart was driven by fear, desperate and Hopeless.

•It really happened to Peter and it might happen to us.

• Philippians 2:12 New International Version Therefore, my

dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but

now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation

with fear and trembling,

His life is the best pictures or examples for us today. Even though we are true disciples and we follow the steps of our Lord Jesus there are times that our spiritual life warm (not on fire) before the Lord.

• What shall we do?• V 72- …And he broke down and wept.• This verse speaks of repentance.• Repent and do it no more.

The implication of rooster’s crows ?

•I;; it is a reminder of our promises we made before the

Lord.•Matthew 26:33 New

International Version (NIV) 33 Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never

will.”

Page 9: Reminders from the life of Peter

, “Promise is made to be broken”. • But 2 Corinthians 1;20

New Living Translation “For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!

It implies that every dawn time the duty of the rooster is to remind us of two

things: • 1; that we should keep our Promise before

the Lord and work for it.• 2; that God fulfilled his Promises

Page 10: Reminders from the life of Peter

• II; It is a reminder that whatever we do, Jesus is observing us.

• Luke 22; 60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before the rooster crows , you will deny Me three times.“

• This gives us an awareness that we must live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

• this verse speaks to us that whatever conditions of life we have, we are not alone.

III; it is a reminder that when we fail; turn back and start again.

A new day = a new beginning, start over– Peter is forgiven through repentance– Peter can't undo the denial– But he reminded us that Failure is not

the ending; that God is a God of a second chance

• One day some people came to the masterand asked: How can you be happyin a world of such impermanence, where you cannot protect your loved onesfrom harm, illness or death?

•The master held up a glass and said:Someone gave me this glass; It holds my water admirablyand it glistens in the sunlight.I touch it and it rings! One day the windmay blow it off the shelf,or my elbowmay knock it from the table. If that will happen, I will turn back and start keeping it again

ApplicationA; whatever success of the day it

depends of how you start your day.

B; do not focus on your failures instead focus on how you can recover and start over again.

C; you can’t undo your mistake but you can try to avoid that mistake and not to do it another time.
