    WELCOME TO THE ROBIN CHAPEL.

    This chapel is a memorial of a beloved son, erected by his sorrowing par-

    ents; it embodies and symbolises the wider spirit of Christian charity and

    unity. It witnesses to the common heritage, the family of all humankind,

    in a celebration of life in all its fullness here in this unique chapel where

    the love of God dwells and all are welcome.

    The Chapel stands as a witness to the lives of all those who have given,

    and still give, their lives in the cause of others and, as a house of prayer,

    continues to pray for peace in the world. Today in this act of remem-

    brance, we remember them.

    WELCOME

    HYMN

    Lead, kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom,Lead thou me on ;

    e night is dark, and I am far from home ;

    Lead thou me on.

    Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see

    e distant scene, one step enough for me.

    I was not ever thus, nor prayed that thou

    Shouldst lead me on;

    I loved to oose and see my path; but now

    Lead thou me on.

    I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,

    Pride ruled my will: remember not past years.

    So long thy power hath blessed me, sure it still

    Will lead me on,

    Oer moor and fen, oer crag and torrent, till

    e night is gone,

    And with the morn those angel faces smile,

    Whi I have loved long since, and lost awhile.W: B J H C N

    The Lord be with you.

    And with thy Spirit.

    Let us confess to God the sins and shortcomings of the world; its pride, itsselshness, its greed; its evil divisions and hatreds. Let us confess our share

    in what is wrong, and our failure to seek and establish that peace which God

    wills for his children.

    Please sit or kneel

    Almighty and most merciful Father; We have erred and strayed from thy

    ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires

    of our own hearts. We have oended against thy holy laws. We have leftundone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done

    those things which we ought not to have done ; And there is no health in

    us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable oenders. Spare thou

    them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are

    penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesu

    our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father; for his sake; That we may

    hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life; To the glory of thy holyname. Amen.

    Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy upon us,

    pardon and deliver us from all our sins, conrm and strengthen us in all

    goodness, and keep us in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    ACT OF REMEMBRANCE

    We are met this day to glorify God whose power sustains the world; toremember with thanksgiving those who lived and died in the service of our

    country; and to ask for Gods help and blessing, that we may be worthy of

    their sacrice each day of our life.

    Let us pray.

    Most gracious God, Father of all mercies, we oer our thanks for the bounty

    of your providence and for the renewing liberty of your grace. We rejoice in

    our inheritance in holy things, and in the freedom and peace in which welive. Especially on this day we give thanks for the remembrance we are

    privileged to make of those companions of our way whose lives were given

    in time of war and whose names are forever remembered here in this

    Chapel. Amen.

    Please stand

    Let us remember the kindness of God, and his favour to us in our time of

    need. Let us remember those who were wounded in the ght; those whoperished in air raids at home; those who fell in bale, and are buried at sea,

    or in some corner of a foreign eld; and especially those whom we have

    known and loved, whose place is forever in our hearts. We remember Robin

    Tudsbery, who like so many; showed courage, devotion to duty, and self-

    sacrice in the cause of others. Let us remember our enemies, whose homes

    and hearts are bereft as ours, whose dead lie also in a living tomb of

    everlasting remembrance. Let us remember those who came back; those

    whose lives still bear the scars of war; those who lost sight or limbs or

    reason; those who lost faith in God and hope for humanity. We remember

    those who came back to live here in the Thistle Foundation. Let us remember

    Ever living God we remember those whom you have gathered from the

    storm of war into the peace of your presence; may that same peace calm our

    fears, bring justice to all peoples and establish harmony among the nations.

    May the example of their devotion inspire us, that we may be taught to live

    PSALM 46 (please remain seated)

    God is our hope and strength: a very present help in trouble.

    erefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved:

    and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea.

    ough the waters thereof rage and swell:

    and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same.

    e rivers of the ood thereof shall make glad the city of God: the holy

    place of the tabernacle of the most Highest.

    God is in the midst of her, therefore shall she not be removed: God

    shall help her, and that right early.

    e heathen make mu ado, and the kingdoms are moved: but God

    hath shewed his voice, and the earth shall melt away.

    e Lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge.

    O come hither, and behold the works of the Lord: what destruction he

    hath brought upon the earth.

    He maketh wars to cease in all the world: he breaketh the bow, and

    knappeth the spear in sunder, and burneth the ariots in the re.

    Be still then, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among theheathen, and I will be exalted in the earth.

    e Lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge. C T.T. N

    CREED

    We believe that God is Spirit,

    And they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

    We believe that God is Light,

    And if we walk in the Light, as He is in the light,

    we have fellowship one with an other.

    We believe that God is Love,

    And everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

    We believe that Jesus is the Son of God,

    And that God hath given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

    We believe that we are children of God,

    And that He hath given us of His Spirit.

    We believe that, if we confess our sins,

    He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

    We believe that the world passeth away, and the lust thereof,

    But he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever

    COLLECTfor the Armed Forces

    Almighty God, stretch forth thy mighty arm to strengthen and protect the

    armed forces: grant that meeting danger with courage and all occasions with

    discipline and loyalty, they may truly serve the cause of justice and peace to

    the honour of thy holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    2nd COLLECTfor Peace

    O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do

    proceed: give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot give;that

    both our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee

    we being defended from the fear of our enemies may pass our time in rest

    and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

    3rd COLLECTfor Aid against all Perils

    Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy

    defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of thy only

    Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

    PRAYER OF KING HENRY VI

    O Lord Jesus Christ, who hast created and redeemed me,

    and hast brought me hither where I am:

    Thou knowest what Thou wouldst do with me.

    Do with me according to Thy will, with mercy.

    Amen.

    HYMN

    In our day of thanksgiving one psalm let us oer

    For the saints who before us have found their reward;

    When the shadow of death fell upon them, we sorrowed,

    But now we rejoice that they rest in the Lord.

    In the morning of life, and at noon, and at even,

    He called them away from our worship below;

    But not till his love, at the font and the altar,

    Had girt them with grace for the way they should go.

    ese stones that have eoed their praises are holy,

    And dear is the ground where their feet have once trod;

    Yet here they confessed they were strangers and pilgrims,

    And still they were seeking the city of God.

    Sing praise, then, for all who here sought and here found him,

    Whose journey is ended, whose perils are past:

    ey believed in the Light; and its glory is round them,

    Where the clouds of earth's sorrow are lifted at last. W: W.H. D

    PRAYERS

    O Lord, our Heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of Kings, Lord of

    Lords, the only Ruler of princes, who dost from thy throne behold all

    dwellers upon earth; most heartily we beseech thee with thy favour to

    behold our most gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth; and so replenish

    her with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that she may always incline to thy will,

    and walk in thy way; endue her plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant that

    she may vanquish all her enemies; and nally, after this life, she may aain

    everlasting joy and felicity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    O God, the creator and Preserver of all mankind, we commend to thy

    fatherly goodness all those, who are in any ways aicted, or distressed, in

    mind, body, or estate; that it may please thee to comfort and relieve them

    Jesus Christ, his sake. Amen.

    Remember, O Lord, all those who have died the death of honour and are

    departed in the hope of resurrection to Eternal Life, especially the Ocers,

    Men and Women of our Sea, Land, and Air Forces, to whom it was given to

    lay down their lives for the cause of Freedom and Justice. In that place of

    light, whence sorrow and mourning are far vanished, give them rest, O Lord,the Lover of Men. Grant this for thine only Son, Jesus Christs sake. Amen.

    Almighty God,Father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants do give

    thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-

    kindness to us, and to all people; We bless thee for our creation,

    preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine

    inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ;

    for the means of grace and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech thee,

    give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be

    unfeignedly thankful, and that we shew forth thy praise, not only with our

    lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking

    before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus

    Christ our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be all honour and

    glory, world without end. Amen.

    HYMN

    O valiant hearts who to your glory came

    rough dust of conict and through bale ame;

    Tranquil you lie, your knightly virtue proved,

    Your memory hallowed in the land you loved.

    Proudly you gathered, rank on rank, to war

    As who had heard Gods message from afar;

    All you had hoped for, all you had, you gave,

    To save mankind yourselves you scorned to save.

    Still stands his Cross from that dread hour to this,

    Like some bright star above the dark abyss;

    Still, through the veil, the Victors pitying eyes

    Look down to bless our lesser Calvaries.

    ese were his servants, in his steps they trod,

    Following through death the martyred Son of God:

    Victor, he rose; victorious too shall rise

    ey who have drunk his cup of sacrice.
