It’s hard to believe we are already six weeks into the new school year. Staff and students are busy but there is a wonderful happy vibe across the Primary Campus; of course having such good kids makes our job so much easier. We are also fortunate to enjoy the continual support of our parent community.

Schools Clean Up Australia Day It was great to see our students out in the community and in the school grounds keeping our environment clean and tidy last Friday as part of the ‘Schools clean up Australia Day’.

Fountas and Pinnell – (BAS – Benchmarking Assessment System)

In 2019 the Primary Campus have begun an exciting new reading journey using The Fountas and

Pinnell resource. A benchmark assessment is a series of texts that can be used to

identify a student's current reading level. This new system is used to evaluate

student reading and comprehension ability and replaces our current systems—PM

Benchmarks and Lexile. This program is being introduced in Prep to Year 6 but is

aimed up to Year 8 level, enabling a consistent approach across our College. Once students have

completed the reading tests the classroom teacher can use the resource to target their teaching

at the needs of students in the class.

Primary level Music Lessons Sue Meeking

Most of our instrumental music lessons are under way. Please contact Sue Meeking at school if you have any concerns or your child has not started lessons where expected or you still want to participate. There are waiting lists for some instruments but there is room for a few more students in the Grade 5/6 free lessons in brass e.g. trumpet, trombone or woodwind e.g. flute. We also have places in the Grade 3/4 free beginner violin lessons for semester two.

A detailed music choices notice goes to all Primary students of Grade 1 to Grade 5 in December each year so that families can hand in an expression of interest for the following year. Lessons are tailored to suit certain age groups due to the system we have in our College.

Costume Care Sue Meeking The costumes we have collected in the Performing Arts room get a good work out each year. Some need a wash, some need mending. If you are willing to lend a hand please email Sue Meeking at [email protected] It would be great to have some help to have everything in good shape for the P- 2 Concert in term three (Sept 18th at the Plaza).

Swimming Sports

Congratulations to the eight students who represented our College at the

Echuca pool on Friday 22nd February. As you can see we had many place

getters! Thanks again to Mrs Mangan for organising this opportunity.
