Nifty Outlook

NIFTY 11040 11500 11000
Markets started the week on a negative note as RBI’s recent statements over a possible
rise in NPAs in FY21 spooked investor sentiments. However, strength in IT and The bulls
were back in charge, after a minor pause in yesterday’s session and helped the benchmark
to gain over one and a half percent. Initially, favorable global cues led a firm start, followed
by healthy buying interest throughout the session. On the sector front, all the indices
ended in green wherein Auto, IT and Metal were the top gainers. The broader markets too
participated in the up move but underperformed the benchmark as both Midcap and
Smallcap index ended higher by 0.8% and 0.6% respectively.
Going ahead, the FOMC meet outcome (on 29th July) would be one of the key events to
watch out for. Besides, the key economic data points would provide more clarity on the
recovery in the economy. On the domestic front, earnings announcements from companies
and auto sales numbers would be on investors’ radar. We advise continuing with a positive
yet cautious approach as Nifty is inching closer to the next hurdle at 10,350 levels.

Investment Pick - Wonderla Holidays Ltd.
Wonderla posted weak set of numbers for Q4FY20. Its revenue declined by 30% YoY to Rs 42.4 cr and footfall declined by 31%, largely impacted by pandemic. It’s EBITDA
declined by 72% YoY to Rs 5 cr. The company’s posted a PAT loss of Rs 1.8 cr however due to one-time gain of tax reversal of Rs 3.4 cr in exceptional item, its adjusted PAT
stood at Rs 1.5 cr. For FY20, Wonderla’s revenue declined by 4% YoY to Rs 282 cr.
We expect a gradual revival in revenue and footfall from Bangalore Park as well as from Hyderabad and Kochi parks, once things began to stabilize and parks receive
permission to re-open. We believe the company is well placed in the leisure segment as it is debt free and have healthy balance sheet with decent cash flow to survive
expenses in such difficult times. We maintain a buy on the stock with a target price of Rs 153.

The Indian markets have plunged ~11% after briefly enjoying their all-time highs around the time of the union budget 2019. Post budget, disappointments due to
lack of any big bang announcements to provide stimulus to the economy led to markets’ fall. Further, several other factors such as weak corporate earnings for
April-June quarter too aggravated the weak sentiments pertaining to economic slowdown. Going forward, expensive valuation of Nifty suggests that further
correction cannot be ruled out unless there is a strong earnings recovery in the coming quarters. Moreover, looming threat of global economic recession may also
continue to impact the direction of the markets.
At a time when there is no clear direction emerging from the indices, focus on quality investments can still help the investors meet their goals. We believe at this
juncture, there are quite a few good stocks available for investors seeking healthy returns over at least 2 years. In this product, we are endorsing a ‘buy-and-hold’
investment philosophy that shall earn you healthy returns (15-20% CAGR) over the long-term. For this purpose, we have chosen five stocks that could offer healthy
upside potential.

In this product of Switch Over Strategy, we are recommending to exit stocks like BHEL, DLF and
GMR Infra as these have underperformed grossly due to their dismal/subdued financial performance
and corporate governance issues. Hence, it would be prudent at this stage to Exit these stocks and
invest in established companies like Escorts Ltd, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, and Marico.
