Oraciones de relativo Las oraciones de relativo dan
información sobre uno de los sustantivos que aparecen en la oración principal:
The woman who lives in apartment No.34 has been arrested.
Pronombres relativosPara personas:
Who: The girl who is sitting next to you. Whom: A man whom I don't know. Cuando se refiere al Objeto de la oraciónWhose: The film is about a man whose wife disappearsPosesión
Pronombres relativosPara cosas:Which: A company which is going to merge
Para ambos:That: The novels that he writes do not sell. I saw the woman that stole your bag
Adverbios relativosAdverbio = pronombre + preposicionWhen in/on which the day when we met him

Tipos de oraciones relativas1. Defining (especificativas): identifican
a la persona o cosa de la que estamos hablando, indican a quién o qué nos referimos:
She spoke to the man who painted the house
Se usan en definiciones:A seaman is a man who works in a ship
Defining relative clauses* Podemos sustituir who y which por that:Do you know anyone who/that speaks English?* Cuando el pronombre relativo (who, which, that) NO es el sujeto de la oración, se puede omitirIs that the book (that) I lent you?
Tipos de oraciones relativas1. Non-Defining (explicativas) :
dan información adicional sobre una persona o cosa. La oración de relativo va separada por comas:
My mother, who lives in Madrid, is 65 years old
Non-Defining relative clauses* No podemos utilizar that* John, who speaks French and
Italian, works as a toursit guide.
* No podemos omitir who o whichWe stayed at the Grand Hotel, which
