INTRODUCTION

Community is a part of the society and education is the counterpart or

both the above mentioned elements. School in social institution where consciously

designed learning experiences are provided with the objectives of achieving social

aim at large, over a period of time. School is also defined as a subsystem of the

larger system of the society. It has to functionally coordinate with its immediate

environment, the community in which it is situated.

The community is meant to employ a wider grouping of people located within

fairly recognizable boundaries, and related to each other by socio-economic and

civic activities which produce oneness among them sufficient to develop a

recognizable identity as a group. The main group and agents involved in the

dynamic of the relationship between school and community are: school

administration, teachers, non-teaching staff, students and parents, governing bodies

and school board.

Beyond immediate proximity with the school are the local political authorities,

governmental bodies and political parties as well as other public, social and cultural

institutions. Parents are always in a constant touch with the school and are proper

channel of the procedure which is the part of the community.

Schools should be viewed not only as institutions that impart certain

knowledge and skills to students, but also as environments that socialize them. The

students at the school mentioned above have been exposed to many of the complex

issues that characteristics community life. Students have reported on local politics,

sat on the local school board and had a voice in making some school decisions.

When students are afforded the opportunity to have a major voice in there. Schools

and local communities, the exposure to democratic practices is amplified.

When the aims of education are thought of ion terms of market forces service-

learning serve as a variation of "school-to-work" or internship experience differs

from "s that place students in local business to acquire "real life" experienced in

work settings. In almost school to work or internship programme students are not

asked to look critically at community life. The fact that schools play important roles

within the life of local communities and that they are to varying degree democratic

institutions can serve as key elements within students educational experience.

Currier students get a chance to interact with members of a different

generation and come to understand how their school plays a functional role in the life

of the community. Student may learn about their local communities through oral

history projects photographic introspective and studies of the natural environment.

These project may or may not involve students in proving a direct benefit to their

communities. Oral history projects or photographics retrospectives may be sharped

with local community members, enriching the historical and cultural life of the

community. Service learning is a set of pedagogical practices that attempts to

synthesize and connect community service experience to special spheres of

knowledge for the dual purposes of mastering that support one's active participation

in democratic process. A serviced learning opportunity differs from "community

service" in that participants.

CONCLUSION

School is the social institution where consciously designed learning

experiences are provided with the objectives of achieving social aim at large,

over a period of time. Scholl is also defined as a subsystem of the society.

Schools are the local political authorities, governmental bodies and political

parties as well as other public, social and cultural institutions. Kinds of

relationships the students from with their peers, teachers, school leaders,

community members and the school culture as a whole.
