I am 1 of 3 children raised in a single parent home

I lived in a dark 2 bedroom apartment that was paid for by federal funding

I have served 24 years of prison for trying to provide for my family

I am the child of a felon I have spent more hours behind concrete

walls than I have enjoying the wonders of the world

I was taught to use my struggle as a testimony that there is more to life than the color of grey walls, orange jump suits and an ID number on my back

Who Am I… I am Free

WHAT HAVE I CREATED A community based non-profit 501(c)(3)

organization that focuses on teaching job and community reintegration skills to non-violent felons that have recently been released from prison.

Because many felons experience difficulties finding permanent jobs after being released from prison

They have trouble reuniting with their families while becoming contributing members of society

WHY SHOULD YOU FUND STRIPES TO LIFE

DO YOU KNOW someone whose family has been affected by the absence of a father in their home.

DID YOU KNOW that 96.3% of incarcerated individuals are parents

DO YOU MIND that on average, Americans are spending more than $32 billion a year to keep prisons open.

DOESN’T IT BOTHER YOU that approximately 67.5% of these prisoners are repeat offenders.

DOES YOUR HEART HURT knowing that when a parent is incarcerated their children are imprisoned as well
