The verb escribir (to write) can be divided into the stem and base: escrib + ir. In order to conjugate a verb, you must change the ending in order to make the verb agree with the subject. To conjugate a regular ir verb, drop the ir ending and add one of the following: o, es, e, imos, ís, en. Here is the present tense conjugation of escribir : yo escribo tú escribes él escribe ella escribe usted escribe nosotros escribimos nosotras escribimos vosotros escribís vosotras escribís ellos escriben ellas escriben ustedes escriben Here are some verbs that follow the regular IR verb conjugation pattern: abrir – to open admitir – to admit asistir – to attend cubrir – to open decidir – to decide describir – to describe descubrir – to discover discutir – to discuss escribir – to write existir – to exist permitir – to permit recibir – to receive subir – to climb, to go up sufrir – to suffer unir – to unite vivir – to live

Regular IR Verbs
The Spanish infinitive, or base form of the verb, is divided into two parts: the stem and the ending.
Many verbs end in ir. The verb escribir (to write) can be divided into the stem and base: escrib + ir. In
order to conjugate a verb, you must change the ending in order to make the verb agree with the subject.
To conjugate a regular ir verb, drop the ir ending and add one of the following: o, es, e, imos, ís, en.
Here is the present tense conjugation of escribir :
yo escribo
tú escribes
él escribe
ella escribe
usted escribe
nosotros escribimos
nosotras escribimos
vosotros escribís
vosotras escribís
