Did you know there is lots of important security information and links on the NHW web page of the Orston Parish website? Please have a look! Secure your sheds and garages Please be aware that very recently there have been thefts from garages on Station Road.
Security of outbuildings is vital in preventing thieves from either stealing expensive garden equipment or accessing garden tools with which to break into your house.
According to statistics from UK insurance companies, whilst house burglary has been decreasing in recent years, garden crime has been on the rise and jumps by about 50% during the summer months.
A survey in 2017 revealed that: 1. 14% of sheds are 'very well' secured. 2. 47% of sheds are 'quite well' secured. 3. 39% of sheds are 'Not that well' secured.
Let’s make sure we fall into the first category.
Useful information on securing garages and outbuildings can be found on: ‘thecrimepreventionwebsite.com’.
PLEASE NOTE It’s very important to report crimes as otherwise rural communities may not be given the required level of resourcing they deserve.
