ENROLLMENT GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS1. No student may enroll for more than 20 hours without the consent of the Dean of the academic unit where the student is declared.

(Undeclared students go to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.)2. Undergraduate courses in which the student receives a D or an F may be repeated. Any undergraduate course in which the student

receives a C or better may be repeated with the approval of the Department Chair. Only the repeated grade will be included indetermining the cumulative grade point average. 16Washburn University Orientation All new first-year students are required to attend one New Student Orientation session, and new transfer students areencouraged to attend Transfer Student Orientation. During Orientation, students will learn about how to getinvolved, go through academic advising, and navigate campus resources. Enrollment for the fall semester isincluded in part of the program. Parents and guests are welcome to participate. Financial Aid

Washburn University provides financial aid assistance throughscholarships, state programs, federal grants, federal work study, and federal student loans. Washburn University Academic Scholarships may be availableto undergraduate students who meet the minimum cumulative GPA requirement, enrollment criteria and the priority date of December 1 based onavailability of funds. In addition, scholarships may be available to students through their academic department, based on their program of study.Washburn University Academic Scholarships are available up to a maximum of eight undergraduate semesters. To qualify for renewal of academicscholarships each year, students must maintain a required Washburn University cumulative grade point average, as indicated online atwww.washburn.edu/scholarships (per each award), complete and pass at least 24 credit hours between the fall and spring semester, and complete theAcademic Scholarship Renewal Application by the December 1 deadline. The Academic Scholarship Renewal Application will be emailed to scholarshiprecipients by the Financial Aid Scholarship Coordinator. Federal financial aid is awarded for one year with its continuance based upon financial aid eligibility, as determined by the Free Application for FederalStudent Aid (FAFSA) and Satisfactory Academic Progress. sodesignatedshallbesubjecttoapprovalbythePresident.7.5.1Employeesmayapplyforarestrictedparkingpermitandparkinglotaccesscard.Applica0onforarestrictedparkingpermitandparkinglotaccesscardshallbemadeattheUniversityPoliceDepartment.Therestrictedparkingpermitisahangtagthatshallbedisplayedbyhangingthetagfromtheinsiderearviewmirrorofthevehicle.7.5.2OnlyonerestrictedparkingpermitandparkinglotaccesscardwillbeissuedtoanEmployee.LostparkinglotaccesscardswillbereplacedatacostdeterminedbytheUniversity.7.5.3Possessionofaparkinglotaccesscardand/orrestrictedparkingpermitdoesnotguaranteetheholderarestrictedspace.7.6Parking—Student.Students,Studentworkers,andStudentinternsarenoteligibleforrestrictedparkingprivileges.7.7Parking—OverLengthorOversizedVehicles.Noindividualshallparkanyvehicleoncampusthatcannotbelegallyparkedinasingleparkingspace.Individualsrequiringspecialparkingconsidera0onforoverlengthoroversizedvehiclesshallcontacttheUniversityPoliceDepartmenttorequestarrangementsforparking.7.8CampingorSleepinginVehicles.ParkingorstandinganytypeofvehicleoncampusforthepurposeofcampingorsleepinginoraroundthevehicleisprohibitedwithoutpriorapprovalfromtheDirectoroftheUniversityPoliceDepartment.7.9 Prohibited Parking.No individual shall park, stop, or stand any vehicle, anywhere on campus in viola0on of the following acts that areconsideredillegalparking:• Doubleparkingorblockingstreets;• Parkingonsidewalksorgrass;• ParkinginareasrestrictedforFacilityMaintenanceVehicleParkingOnly;• Parkingwhichblocksdrivewaysorsidewalks;• Parkingoutsidemarkedparkingspaces;• Parkingwithin15feetofafirehydrant;• Parkinginareasdesignatedasnoparkingbysigns;• Parkinginareasdesignatedasrestrictedparkingwithoutaproperlydisplayedpermit;• Parkinginafirelane;• Parkinginspacesdesignatedforhandicappedparkingoraccessway;and,• Anyotherparkingviola0onsasdefinedbyStandardTrafficOrdinances(STO),CityOrdinance,orStateStatute.

Parking Violation Fees. A fee of $25.00 will be assessed for all University tickets issued to Students or Employees for parking violations (except forhandicap accessible parking and fire lane parking violations). Such fees are due and payable at the University Cashier’s Office (Morgan 103o) duringbusiness hours within 5 business days of the date of issuance of the ticket. If fees are not paid within 5 business days, a late fee of $10.00 shall beassessed.7.10Viola5onFee—FailuretoPay.7.11.1Employeeswithunpaidparking5cketfeesand/orlatefeesmaybesubjecttoadministra5vereview.7.11.2Studentswithunpaidparkingand/orlatepaymentfeesshallhaveaholdplacedontheirtranscriptsandre-enrollmentun0lsuchfeesarepaidinfull.7.12RemovalofIllegallyParkedVehicles.Anyvehicleparkedinviola0onofanyparkingregula0onmaybedeemedacommonnuisanceandthenuisanceabatedbyremovalofthevehicleinaccordancewithTopekaMunicipalCode10.25.010.TheUniversityPolicewillafempttocontacttheownerofthevehicleanddemandremovalofthevehiclepriortotheUniversityremovingthevehicle.Thecostofabatement,includingtowingandimpoundstoragefeesshallbetheresponsibilityoftheownerofthevehicle.7.13VehicleOpera5on—Pedestrians.VehiclesshallyieldtoallpedestriansinaccordancewiththeStandardTrafficOrdinance.7.13.1Pedestriansshallobeyalltrafficregula5onswhileoncampus.7.14VehicleOpera5on—SpeedLimits.ThespeedlimitsontheUniversityCampusshallbe:• 20MPHonallstreetsandroadwaysoncampus;and,• 12MPHinallparkinglots,driveways,andparkinglotaccessways.

7.14.1Postedspeedlimitsdonotrelieveoperatorsofmotorvehiclesoftheresponsibilitytodrivewithcau0onandassafetyrequiresinexis0ngcondi0ons. 7.15MotorVehicleAccidents.AllmotorvehicleaccidentsoccurringontheUniversitycampusshallbereportedtotheUniversityPoliceDepartment.TheUniversityPoliceDepartmentwillconductaproperinves0ga0onofallmotorvehicleaccidentsasrequiredbylaw.TheTopekaPoliceDepartmentalsohasjurisdic0ontoinves0gateallaccidentsoccurringwithintheCityofTopeka.7.16Hearings.AnyindividualwhodesirestocontesttheissuanceofaUniversity0cketissuedtotheindividualmayrequestahearinginaccordancewiththefollowingprocedures:

• Acomplaintregardingthe0cketmustbemadeinpersonattheUniversityPoliceDepartment;•Iftheindividualisnotsa0sfiedwiththedisposi0onofthecomplaintregardingthe0cket,theindividualmayrequestareviewofthe0cketbythe

ParkingTicketReviewBoard.Theindividualmustsubmit,inwri0ng,totheDirectorofUniversityPolicethereason(s)forreques0ngareviewofthe0cket.ThewrifenrequestforareviewmustbedeliveredtotheDirectorofUniversityPolicewithin5businessdaysamerthedaythe0cketwasissued;

•Uponreceiptofthewrifenrequestforareview,theDirectorofUniversityPolicewillscheduleahearingbeforetheParkingTicketReviewBoard.TheParkingTicketReviewBoardwillconsistoftwostudentsappointedbytheWashburnstudentGovernmentAssocia0on,oneclassifiedandoneadministra0veEmployeeappointedbytheStaffCouncil,andonefacultymemberappointedbytheFacultySenate.TheParkingTicketReviewBoardwillmeetandrenderitsdecisionwithin5businessdaysamerthehearing;and,

The decision of the parking Ticket Review Board shall be final and is not subject to further review.

DisclosureofEduca5onRecordsorPersonallyIden5fiableInforma5onUniversityPolicePersonnelshallhaveaccesstostudentclassschedulesinanemergencysitua0onwhenknowledgeoftheinforma0onconcerningtheemergencyisconsiderednecessarytoprotectthehealthorsafetyofstudentsorotherpersons.

UniversityPolicePersonnelwillverifytheiden0tyofthepersonreques0nginforma0onandtheemergencysitua0on.Theclassschedulewillnotbereleasedtothereques0ngindividualbutapoliceofficerwillafempttocontactthestudentdirectly.

A record of each disclosure request must be made and maintained. The record should include the name and address of the requestor, date and time ofrequest, and the nature of the emergency situation. These records are considered part of the student's educational record.
