This is a clinical course only and is designed to review all local anesthetic injections. This will also serve as a review for students who are taking the WREB local anesthesia exam. Please bring two syringes.

Professor Logothetis has lectured nationwide on pain control modalities and teaching strategies for pain control. Her book is focused on teaching dental hygienists how to effectively integrate local anesthesia into clinical practice. Her textbook won the 2012 PROSE award in the category of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing.

All courses are held at Novitski Hall,SE Corner of Tucker and Yale, unless otherwise noted.Partisipants will be able to get a free parking pass from the UNM Division of Dental Hygiene upon arrival.

Price: $1,300 40 CEUs

Local anesthesia for the practicing dental hygienist is a 5 day local anesthesia course that will prepare the practicing dental hygienist to take the Western Regional Local Anesthesia Examination or an equivalent examination. Dental hygienists planning to take the WREB exam must register online at www.wreb.org to qualify to take the exam.

This fi ve day course includes all the information that is taught in the UNM semester long local anesthesia course (no course information or requirements are excluded) and is completed within fi ve days rather than an entire semester, allowing the practicing dental hygienist the opportunity to receive licensure in local anesthesia. Dental hygienist's who register for this course will receive the course packet and textbook on the fi rst day of class. Class size is limited, so registrations will be accepted on a first come basis. Participants need to bring two syringes, calculator, safety glasses and prepared to receive practice injections or bring someone in your place to receive injections.
