The Vyavasayi Vidya Pratishthan Engineering College is established by Rajkot Nagarik Sahakari Bank Ltd. to promote quality education in various technical fields. V.V.P. Engineering College, Rajkot is the first SFI in Saurashtra and Kutch region, recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and the Government of Gujarat and is affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU). The campus is located in the west of Rajkot, 6 Km from A. G. Chowk on Kalawad Road with transportation and conveyance facilities. V.V.P. Engineering College, Rajkot has been awarded the ISTE National Award for Best Engineering College in Best Overall Performance in the year 2014.
Good economy of a country leads to better future and it relies largely on total productivity, which is highly dependent on mechanical engineers. The department is well equipped with laboratories like Fluid Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Dynamics of Machinery, Production Technology, Material Technology, Machine Design, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning and Metrology to meet the demands of well-trained and professionally sound mechanical engineers. Mechanical department is having an intake of 120 students in UG and 18 students in PG (M.E. CAD/CAM). We also have a well-equipped workshop for subjects like manufacturing processes. Among the highly precise machines we have CNC machine, robotic Arm, balancing machine for different Masses, l.C. engine test rig. Qualified experts are invited by the department as visiting faculty to cater to the teaching needs of the elective subjects. Mechanical Engineering department generates skilled mechanical engineers through effective teaching with industry-institution interaction with a vision to contribute in Nation's productivity and economy. The department aims to encourage the staff members to develop & utilize their full potential to create outstanding abilities in the field of mechanical engineering and research.
Department of mechanical engineering has taken an unique approach to cover latest practices in mechanical engineering by organizing short term training program on “Recent trends in Mechanical Engineering”. Various areas related to modern trends in mechanical engineering like Geometric dimesions & tolerances, evolutionary algorithm, computational fluid dynamics, extending an application of IoT to metal casting, product design and life cycle, application of AI in manufacturing, industry 4.0, energy conservation and opportunities in thermal power plant, solar thermal collector, casting design & simulation, etc. will be covered by renowned experts along with hand on session.
