If you are considering pursuing your CMCE certification in the near future, you may be one of the
first to view the new and updated CMCE Study Guide. This is not like downloading a ‘patch,’ but
more like an ‘upgrade.’ Though you will notice that many of the topics are similar, much of it has
been updated to reflect the latest applications as well as having a stronger focus on “Strategic
Thinking.” This new version of CMCE will have an emphasis on assessing your skills and
applications that emphasizes the crossover effect. This effect would highlight the basic managerial
behaviors found within several of the MWR/Services functions.
The new CMCE Study Guide is near completion and will soon be delivered to your Board of Directors and others for
proper feedback. Once approved, the exam itself will need to be developed. Rest assured, due diligence will be done to
make certain the CMCE certification exam will be a reflection of the Study Guide as well as a reflection of the duties
and responsibilities that today’s MWR/Services manager faces every day.
Once the updated CMCE is in place, IMCEA will vigorously promote this certification within the Military and in
addition, to the Private sector. Our goal is for your Certification to be recognized wherever you go for what it
represents, the achievement of experience and knowledge in the field of MWR/Services management. By receiving
your CMCE designation, you will have demonstrated your expertise and commitment to serving the Men and Women
of our United States Armed Forces.
The New CMCE Certification and Study Guide, upgraded, updated, and soon to be uploaded to our website.
Yours respectfully,
Alex Shortsleeve, MBA
Interim Executive Director
IMCEA Director of
Education & Training

Opportunities with San Antonio IMCEA Chapter
In Good Taste
One of my favorite recipes from Gracie Allen's for Roast Beef.
Gracie was a comedian and the wife of George Burns, of the old Burns and Allen
fame prior to their marriage...
Take one 8 lb. beef roast and one 2 lb. beef roast, season each according to taste.
Put side by side in 350 degree oven.
When 2 lb. roast is burnt black, the 8 lb. roast is done...
