The National Beta Club, the Board of Directors, National Staff and Offi cers welcome you to the Twenty-fi rst Annual National Junior Beta Club Convention. We could not be more excited to have over 1,050 clubs to showcase their incredible talents.

Sponsors, administrators, chaperones, parents and special guests have dedicated countless hours of time and effort to be here. Welcome all, from around the nation to the beautiful Swan and Dolphin Hotel & Convention Center. Beta will go “Above and Beyond” with team competitions, talent extravaganzas, visual arts showcases and individual academic challenges.

This year, over 19,500 people join us for the largest National Convention in history. We thank you for all of your efforts to make Beta bigger and better in your schools and communities. Beta has been changing lives for over 80 years, and so do all of you who support and exemplify the four pillars: Service, Character, Leadership and Achievement.

Emma, a rising freshman, will continue her membership in the Central Magnet School Beta Club. She has spent this year looking for opportunites for community service and going above and beyond in the service hour requirements. Her advice to all Betas is, “Keep serving others! Never stop trying to better your community.”

John David has taken this opportunity to grow as a leader traveling to other state conventions. He states, “Let Beta help you fi nd who you truly are and what you love. Then jump into those activities, events, and causes. Beta offers so many avenues for people to plant themselves.”

NATIONAL PRESIDENT JUNIOR GARCIAA rising 9th grader, Junior will attend Morristown East High School next year. Always a positive force for the people around him, he advises all Beta members, “Do not let others bring you down and always fi nish what you start.” He has encouraged all of us to be big in the spirit of Beta.

With his contagious smile, Zachary has continued to spread his message of belief in ourselves, belief in the future and most of all belief in each other. He describes this year as the best of his life. Making life-long friendships with people from all over the nation. He considers all of you his “Beta-family.”

Brooklyn sees Beta as a chance to bring out the best in people so they can bring out the best in others. As chaplain, Brooklyn has spent the year doing just that. She explains, “Life is fi lled with ups and downs. Don’t listen to the negativity of this world, focus on becoming a leader for others to look up to.”

STATE RALLY

Beta has a love for the rich history, heritage, and people of all the states that it rep-resents. From the fi rst char-tered club in Landrum, South Carolina, in the early 30’s to welcoming the states of Idaho and New Jersey to this 2017 National Convention, state pride illuminates throughout the clubs. Our state roots run deep and the Second General Session is your opportuni-ty to show that state pride.
