On behalf of your host, the REALTORS® Association of New Mexico, we welcome you to the Land of Enchantment.

Region XI members have a great history of working together to have a voice at NAR and develop leaders that aspire to serve at the national level. By taking time away from your families and real estate practice, you have joined us in our efforts to play a role in the future of the REALTOR® organization and the real estate industry and for that, I thank you.

I am honored and thrilled to be one of two Regions selected to host NAR’s Members Edge Program. And what a line-up of speakers! Our Thursday program will touch on current issues, trends, and offer some great tips for you to use every day in your business.

Friday morning Dr. Lowell Catlett will offer his view of the future and leave you thinking about how you can make never-ending changes opportunities for your life and business. Vince Malta, NAR President Elect and state legal counsels will also join us. I would like to express my gratitude to our own Holly Mabery and Evan Fuchs from Arizona for presenting at both the Members Edge and leadership program, they have provided great advice and counsel to me and I am ever so appreciative. I want to also express my gratitude to RANM leadership and staff, especially Steven Anaya & Diane Moehlenbrink for their endless assistance in putting this conference together, please thank them when you see them.

Leigh Brown describes herself as an international sales/motivational speaker who happens to be hilarious in an almost-inappropriate-but-still-family-friendly way. She is one of the top selling REALTORS® in the Charlotte, North Carolina real estate market. A RE/MAX broker/owner with one of the largest and most successful firms on the planet, Brown is also in the RPAC Hall of Fame. Vince Malta is 2018 National Association of REALTORS® First Vice President. He is a third-generation REALTOR® and CEO and broker of Malta & Co. Inc. in San Francisco. Vince has been in real estate for nearly 40 years and has served in countless roles. On the national level, he has testified before Congress multiple times on behalf of NAR, served on the board of directors since 2002, and was the 2011 Vice President of Govern-ment Affairs. In 2002, Vince became a California Association of REALTORS® honorary member for life; in 2006 he served as CAR president; and in 2007 he was named the state's REAL-TOR® of the Year.

Kenny Parcell, a REALTOR® for nearly 20 years, is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and is the director of business development for Equity Real Estate, where he specializes in sin-gle-family brokerage. Kenny served as an NAR liaison to committees in 2017, 2015, 2013, and 2012, and as vice president in 2016 for Region 11. The Utah Association of REALTORS® elected him president in 2011 and named him REALTOR® of the Year in 2013. He served as president of the Utah County Association of REALTORS® in 2008. Kenny is 2018 NAR Vice President of Government Affairs.

Leslie Rouda Smith grew up in a real estate family; her father, Harley E. Rouda Sr., founded HER Realtors® in Ohio. These days, Leslie is the matriarch of another real estate family. Her husband, daughter, and son are all Dave Perry-Miller associates in Dallas, Texas. Leslie rarely lists a property in her own name, opting for a behind-the-scenes role in the family business. Through her leadership positions, she also plays a behind-the-scenes role in thousands of REALTORS®’ businesses. Leslie’s leadership roles include 2012: President of the Collin County Association of REALTORS®; 2013: NAR Vice President; 2016: Chairman of the Texas Association of RE-ALTORS®; 2017: NAR Region X Regional Vice President; and 2018: Chairman of NAR ‘s Future of the REALTOR® Party PAG.

Law of the Jungle/Lessons Learned from Leadership

Evan Fuchs co-created the AAR Leadership Training Academy, where he continues to develop incoming leaders. His dedication to leadership and collaboration is further evi-denced through his ongoing service on various boards and committees for both the state and National Association of REALTORS®. Evan teaches pre-licensing and continuing education, strategic planning, business planning, and many designations and certifications such as ABR, GRI, SRS, and e-PRO. A proud dad, past State President, 2018 NAR Professional Development Committee Chair, NAR Director, and 4-time REALTOR® of the Year, Evan loves training and collab-orating with individuals and teams who aspire to produce their best work.

Holly Mabery brings a contagious enthusiasm for all things real estate to life. A full time REALTOR® since 1998, her passion for our industry led her to serve as the 2012 President of the Arizona Association of REALTORS® and she remains active on state & national committees. Holly is Co-Creator of the Arizona REALTORS® Leadership Training Academy, a stra-tegic planner, industry speaker, and instructor who’s goal is to build strong communities with each transaction working with clients, REALTORS®, and associations.

Dr. Lowell Catlett was a Regents Professor in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business and Extension Economics and the Dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at New Mexico State University until he retired in 2015. He is an exciting futurist whose knowledge of technologies and their implications on the way we will live and work is addressed in his varied and upbeat presentations. Dr. Catlett received his doctorate in Economics from Iowa State University, and has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching. The professor of agricultural eco-nomics and agricultural business is internationally known as an expert in commodities futures markets and is in demand as a speaker and consultant on predicting and plan-ning for near- and long-term futures.
