Successes/Best Practices• The soft skills workshops (Leadership and Managing Negotiations) have

allowed us to reach out to non-IEEE members and industry in general. – Helped establish the value of the section to industry. – Gained membership (4) through this years workshop (fee structure we setup

for this workshop helped promote this)– Two of the new members gained through this workshop are officer candidates

for election– Identified areas of interest for future activities via evaluation/feedback surveys

• Region 4 meeting and IEEE-USA Workshops have helped with officer training and education.

– These events keep us updated on services available for our officers and other section member benefits

• Developed a relationship with Baker Communications. Will build on this relationship for future soft skills workshops.

Lessons Learned

• IEEE Region meetings and IEEE-USA Leadership workshops are great events to prepare and train officers.

• Take advantage of the funding opportunities the Region provides for activities such as Region Meetings, GOLD activities, IEEE-USA Leadership workshops. Through these activities our section can learn how to better promote IEEE to our section members.

Goals for Next Year

• Revitalize our Power Engineering Chapter

• Set schedule for the year early and hold officers accountable for making events happen.

• Effectively prepare and educate section officers to allow them to conduct section activities.

• Build from our success on soft skills workshops. Use this opportunity to grow the section.

• Provide necessary support for our GOLD affinity group. This is a great opportunity to gain interest from younger engineers and to revitalize the interest in our section for the future.

• Increase interaction with student branches and pre-college students by actively participating in National Engineer’s Week, Faraday Lecture, etc. and assisting student branch to interact with SAC.

Region 4 Could Most Help My Section By…

• Continue section support with funding for PACE workshops, training of officers via region meetings and IEEE-USA workshops.

• Provide an effective means for communication between sections (sharing of meetings, success stories, etc.)

• Provide and/or assist with developing an effective means for section to hold net meetings.

• Provide access to training materials on Region website.
