Affordable Care Act & Church Health Benefit Plans

Individual Health Coverage Mandate went into effect January 1, 2014.

Four benefit levels available on exchanges

Platinum (provides health coverage = 90%)

Gold (provides health coverage = 80%)

Silver (provides health coverage = 70%)

Bronze ( provides health coverage = 60%)

Employers that issue fewer than 250 W-2s exempt from reporting value of coverage on W-2s as well as self-insured plans like the Christian Church Health Care Benefit Trust

Congregations may continue to pay premiums direct to the CCHCBT on a pre-tax basis, however congregations may no longer pay premiums directly for coverage purchased on the exchange or direct for insurance companies.

Congregations who reimburse their employees health insurance premiums purchased on the exchange, spouses employer, or private policy must include this amount in taxable income effective January 1, 2014 per the IRS.

Healthcare Insurance

Affordable Care Act Subsidies

Available to persons who purchase their coverage through the Healthcare Exchange and have a total HOUSEHOLD income up to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level

Any subsidy is based on Member Only premium and not the actual premium (Member & Adult Dependent, Member & Child(ren) or Family)

Christian Church Health Care Benefit Trust benefits plans meet federal qualifications, however they are not available on the healthcare exchanges and not eligible for subsidies
