WHY IT TOOK PLACE?
To meet the needs of theexpansion of the university
PERSONAL RESPON
I like it because:
They preserved the iconic partof the building for the most well-known function of this university(the Language Center). Theentrance ways yet leading to the
iconic part.
The new part of the building canblend well with the old one. Forexamples : the windows style &the materials
These different materials can
tell us that they have differentera.

Bo pi Liao street, wan-hua districtBo Pi Liao street is a well-preserved Qing
Dynasty street to be a major passagebetween Mangka District and GutingDistrict. In the Japanese Colonial Period, under new urban planning, Bo Pi LiaoStreet was displaced by the currentGuangZhou Street as the major passage, relegating the old passage to a backalley. To preserve the Taipei CityHeritage, through the renovationprocess
To promote it as a tourism object.
PERSONAL RESPON
I like it because:
The renovation still maintain thenative atmosphere and the old
appearance, yet the interior andthe form.
The addition of modern elements(steel, steel-framed window, andbalcony) is fitting with the oldelements. It looks good.
