Reflections, November 18, 2016Page 2

From The Executive Director Written by Lynn Tanner, CMCA

The holi-days will be fast approaching and local charities are in need of a variety

of donations to help make the holidays brighter for local families, and pets this holiday season. This year, we are the drop-off center for an assortment of charitable organizations. We hope to have a year of generous donations to these groups to highlight the caring community that Radisson is.

We continue our longstand-ing tradition of collecting annual donations for the Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau. All donations go to families in the Baldwinsville School District, many of which may be located within Radisson. The Bureau is seeking donations of: NEW - toys, clothes, gifts, household items (i.e. towels, sheets and blankets) and (non-perishable) food; or USED (gently) – books. All of these

items can be dropped off to the dona-tion box in the RCA Office. Donations to this charity seem to have dwindled in recent years. We used to have a hard time storing all of the items that were donated in our office until pick-up day. When pick-up day arrives this year (December 15th), we would love to have an overflowing box of donations to provide for local families in need!

Another charity we are accept-ing donations for is the Central New York Family Bike Giveaway. This organization collects donations of bikes, trikes and scooters throughout the year. Volunteers repair the donated items and make sure they are road-worthy. They are then distributed to needy children at holiday time. For two weeks, (Monday, November 21st to Friday, December 2) you may drop off any used bikes, trikes and scooters, in any condition, to the RCA Office (during office hours only). We will collect the donated items and will bring

them to the organization for any needed repairs. After these dates, if you have a bike you would like to donate, please call Mr. Will DeSain at 427-3889 to arrange to have it picked up from you directly. If interested, they are also looking for volunteers to help work on the donat-ed bikes prior to the Giveaway, which will be held at the Center of Progress Building at the NYS Fairgrounds.

New this year, we are sponsoring a holiday pet supplies drive to ben-efit the Central New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). This organization is committed to making our commu-nity a kinder and safer place for animals in many ways, including: animal abuse investigation; education; legislation; and providing food, medicine and shelter for unwanted pets to live, until a loving home can be found. There are many items on the SPCA’s wishlist, some of which we have highlighted below. To see

the full list, got to http://www.cnyspca.org/wishlist. The collection box will be available at the RCA Office until Friday, December 16th. Radisson is home to many pets and we are hopeful that our first drive to support this cause will be plentiful.

In addition to all the above, the Children’s Holiday Event also pro-vides an opportunity to make a donation, and brighten someone’s day. The Recreation Committee is ask-ing residents that attend the event to bring a written note, a greeting card, and/or an ornament to be delivered to a Baldwinsville resident that receives a delivery from Meals on Wheels. If you are not attending the Children’s Holiday Event but would like to participate, please drop your card and/or orna-ment off at the RCA Office by Monday, December 5th.

On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors, we wish you and your family a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving!

To the Editor:   I am writing

to thank the con-stituents of the 120th  Assembly

District for re-electing me to serve in the New York State Assembly.    Public service is something I take very serious-ly and I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Onondaga, Oswego and Jefferson counties.

It has been a privilege  to  represent this region in  the  State Assembly. I plan to continue the strong tradition

of constituent service from my district office. In Albany, I will work to fur-ther  reduce  taxes, craft legislation that helps protect our communities from crime, and help build a stronger econ-omy. I will continue  to be a voice for  small businesses and our manufac-turers and will keep fighting to reduce the cost of doing business in this state.  I will also continue to bring Upstate's concerns to Albany and do my best to represent the Central New York area. There is much more to be done and I look forward to when session begins. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve another term.

I am grateful to all who have shared ideas on how to make New York a better place to live, work and raise a family. I value your insight and I look forward to building on some accomplishments.

Thank  you  again for your vote on Election Day. If I can provide any assistance in regard to a state matter, please feel free to contact my office at  315-598-5185  or by email at  [email protected].

                     Sincerely,Will BarclayMember of the Assembly

In the early morning hours of Friday, November 11 (Veteran’s Day), many items near Oberon Lake were vandalized. A trash can was lit on fire and burned to the ground, and other items were also damaged. The Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Dept responded to the call. A report has been filed and an ongoing investigation is being handled by the Sheriff’s Dept.

A REWARD is being offered by the Radisson Community Association to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person(s) found to be responsible for this vandalism.

If you, or someone that you know, has any information and/or recalls hearing or seeing something suspicious during the early morning hours (approximately 3:30am) Friday, November 11, please contact the RCA Office, 635-7171 or email me directly at [email protected] .

Holiday Homes of Radisson

Decorating ContestDue to the growing size of the community, the Recreation

Committee is unable to view every single home, so they will be judging only those homes nominated by Radisson residents. Put in a plug for yourself, your neighbor’s or your favorite house on each street. Pack up the family and drive through the community to see which ones are deserving of this honor! Awards will be given to the top homes of Radisson.

Submit your vote by Noon on Monday via website, email or phone.

Judging will be the evening of Monday, December 12th (snow date will be Tuesday!) Winners will be announced on the front page of the December 23rd Reflections.

If you have any questions please email [email protected] or call Jeanine at 635-7171, ext 11.

Santa’s Mailbox has arrived at the RCA Office! Kids – bring your letter to Santa’s spe-cial mailbox for Radisson children! You can write about gift ideas, ask about the North Pole or just send some Christmas wishes.

Letters received by December 18 may get a reply from Santa! Be sure he can read your name and address so he can write back.

Nursery School NewsOur 4 year olds held their very own

class election in honor of Election Day. They registered to vote, which gave

them great practice with writing their entire first and last names. Mrs. Simiensyk read Duck for President. The children cast their private ballots in a special box and cheered for the

winner. ( Mr. Duck!!) During large Motor time, Mrs. Cali took the children on a squirrel hunt. They searched for squirrels and nuts hidden in and around fall colored leaves. They sang "grey squirrel, grey squirrel shake your bushy tail", and took turns holding the bushy tail. Our

2 year old parents had the opportunity to speak with Mrs. Tanguay during our fall phone conference. It was a great time to check in and let the parents know how their children have been doing so far. The 2 year olds have become very accustomed to our routine and are all quite content. The 3 year olds will be using all sorts of interesting materials to make scarecrows with Mrs. Cicero during free art time. Mrs. Cicero would like to be able to display more of their art work in her classroom, but they are always so insistent on taking their projects home. She is very happy that her students are so proud of their work and creativity.

Architectural Standards Committee (ASC) ASC Fall/Holiday Topics and Reminders

• Holiday Decorations

The ASC encourages every-one to decorate their

homes and property this season. Do not forget to have your display’s up by December 12th to have your decorations judged by the Recreation Committee. The ASC asks that everyone please be considerate to your neighbors when set-ting up your decorations and remember that you will need to take down the holiday items 30 days after the holiday.

• Storage of Summer Items/Recreational Items

November 1st was the deadline to have the following summer items stored indoors for the winter: small children’s playhouses, trampolines, children’s toys, hammocks, summer shade structures, and screened enclosures. Window air conditioner units will also need to be stored indoors as well. The reason we ask that these items be stored indoors is to minimize the adverse visual impact of these items, especially since they cannot be used during the winter months. The

ASC would like everyone to be in com-pliance before the snow starts flying. Inclement weather is not an excuse to not be in compliance. These items may be brought outside again on April 1st.

• Halloween DecorationsWith Halloween past us, now is the

time to bring those spooky decora-tions indoors if you have not already done so. All Halloween decorations will need to be brought inside no later than November 30th.

• Approved Project Window SignsHave you completed an exterior

modification project this year? Be sure to return your ASC approved window sign (the letter that is attached to your approval letter with your project num-ber). The reason we ask for the sign to be returned is for review of the completed project and so we know if you finished your project. If you lost your window sign and completed your project, please e-mail our Architectural Standards Administrator, John Mancinelli, at [email protected] and let him know that you completed your project.

Friendly Reminder from the Accounting Department……Statements for the 4th Quarter Assessment (January – March 2017)

will be mailed and/or emailed the first week of December. Payments are due January 1st. Please help us GO GREEN by signing up to receive your quarterly statement via email on www.estmt.net. You’ll need your Registration ID #, which can be found on your most recent statement. Or, you can contact the RCA Accounting Department to obtain it.

For your convenience, we have several payment options. Online pay-ments can be made at www.hoabankservices.com, where you can pay by credit card or e-check. You can also choose to use our ACH payment option which will automatically deduct your quarterly payment from your bank account on the due date. This will also eliminate receiving quarterly statements! You can download the ACH form from our web

site or stop in the office to pick one up. And as always, you can mail a check with your payment stub to our lockbox at:

Radisson Community AssociationPO Box 105007Atlanta, GA 30348-5007If you pay via your bank with a bank generated check, please be sure

the “remit to” address is the lockbox address listed above. Please be aware if you choose to mail or drop your payment off at the RCA office it will take longer to process, as we then send those payments to our lockbox to be processed.

Please free to call the accounting department at 635-7171 with any questions you may have.
