Reflections
Transcript of Reflections
• Throughout the course of the project, our group has come up with many reflections;
• strengths
• weaknesses
• brief overview of activities
STRENGTHS• Our blogging skills have improved. When looking through our
blog, you can see we have spaced out the work completed, showing our ‘creative journey.’ This started from the beginning of the task where we made individual blogs to show our preliminary tasks and then a group blog to show everything we completed.
• After completing tasks set at the beginning of the project we used our own minds to think about what we needed to add to the task to get the best grade
• Our filming skills have massively improved. When looking at the first cut of the trailer there is a limited amount of camera shots, and after feedback we decided to re-film everything using different techniques.
• During different scenes in the trailer you will see more than three/four different camera shots which adds variation to the movie trailer. This includes POV, handheld, over-the-shoulder and different angled shots
• With reference to filming, we greatly improved in our ability to film in different locations, and use our time wisely. During the half term our group decided to film for two days, and we thought that was all we needed to film.
• After reviewing the clips and the trailer we put together, we came up with a filming schedule which would enable to complete the project within the given time scale.
WEAKNESSES• Our ability to work as a group has cost us greatly
during the task, which also effected our time management.
• Due to all of us disagreeing all the time about tasks given and quality/quantity we lost a lot of time to actually do the work and create a good quality product. This happened on a regular basis and communication was also affected by this. Tasks would be completed wrong in this time period meaning they would have to be redone
• With reference to the disagreements our time management was appalling.
• The whole of the A2 course began in September 2014, and we only started filming in January 2015, as we took so long to finish the preliminary tasks and the first group tasks we couldn't film in different locations which were away from the school grounds.
• Also actor casting was completed quickly due to unreliable people dropping out last minute
• Even when we created costume and props layout, we didn't follow the idea we proposed. Originally we felt the main character should wear white clothes at the beginning of the trailer, and dark clothes at the end, to emphasis the change in character.
• Due to our lack of time keeping we did not tell our cast to follow this costuming as we felt we needed to complete the task to the appropriate time scale. If we were to do this again we would hopefully follow more of our research and planning.
ACTIVITIESProduction Schedule
When setting out the group tasks Luca made a production schedule so each member would know what they had to do and by when. Overall we managed to meet the deadlines up to the filming stage as we
underestimated how long it would take to film
SynopsisJordan was the
group member to create this, which
illustrated the main storyline we had to follow in
the trailer. Overall we feel
that this detailed synopsis isn't very detailed as it only
shows what happens in the trailer and not
the actual movie
LogoCreated by Jordan and
Camie. The idea of the title came from a metaphor
of the main character, where
he is fallen - hopefully this is shown to the
audience. We are happy with the way the logo
looks
Audience ResearchThis research conducted did not bring back
appropriate results for creating a good crime trailer. From research on the internet we found the main target audience was males,
whereas the survey created by Luca brought back results predominantly from females
