Draft Timetable

The draft timetable can be found on the Athletics Australia website. Click here:

tnmo3qunazshtk2q.pdf (revolutionise.com.au)

Please take note on what AA have stated at the front of this Draft TT:

“Athletics Australia continues to monitor the COVID pandemic and border closures. The

schedule of events outlined below have been released to assist athletes and families with travel

plans.

Please note the following:

• It is the intention of Athletics Australia to conduct the 2021 Australian Track & Field

Championships, however this intent is reliant upon a safe and healthy COVID

environment and may be hindered by future COVID restrictions. Any updates to the

Championship format or structure will be communicated as early as possible.

• The schedule of events outlined below is a draft and subject to change. Many factors

contribute to an event of this size and as a result some changes are unavoidable.

Additional days may be required.

• Athletics Australia strongly advises all attendees to only book refundable travel.”

Updates to the timetable will be forwarded to you as received but please keep an eye on the TT

website

Uniform

Athletics Tasmania Competition uniform (singlet and pant) for all Junior athletes is compulsory

when competing at the Championships. We also encourage athletes to wear their other Athletics

Tasmania uniform (shorts/top/tracksuit) while at the Championships.

Competition uniform is ONLY compulsory for the relay events for OPEN athletes. Competition

uniform is not compulsory for other Open events, however, we encourage you to wear the

Tasmanian team uniform when competing.

If you don’t have a Tasmanian Team uniform, please see Bulletin #1 on the AT website for

details on what and how to order.

Team Travel

Athletics Tasmania will not be coordinating team travel and accommodation for the 2021

Australian Athletics Championships. All athletes will be required to book their own travel and

accommodation for this event and stay with their parents/guardians or coaches. Athletics

Tasmania will be sending a management team to the event which includes 2 x Team Managers.

Flights

All athletes must book and pay for their own flights according to their event schedule. Athletes

are requested not to book flights to Sydney on the day of their event. Please book flights 1 or 2

days earlier. Please ensure that you book your flights to take into account racing in the relay if

you are a sprinter.

State Relays

Athletics Tasmania will nominate teams for all relay events at the 2021 Australian Athletics

Championships (should athlete numbers allow). The Athletics Tasmania policy is to select the

fastest combination of athletes to field our most competitive teams. It is compulsory for all

sprinters to make themselves available for relays. Please ensure that you book your flights to

take into account racing in the relay.

Any athlete chosen in his/her states/territories/federations relay team who has not qualified in

their own right to compete in an event at the championships may compete, upon entry and

payment of the individual entry fee ($30) in the normal way, in the 100m individual event (if in

the 4x100m state relay team) or 400m individual event (if in the 4x400m state relay team) only

in his/her own age group, without the need to have qualified. PLEASE NOTE: Athletics

Tasmania cannot guarantee a relay team will be entered until closer to competition time, due to

the complexity of an individual athlete’s competition load.

Athletics Tasmania Seating

Athletics Tasmania will be located in the grandstand in the same spot each day to support and

provide assistance for all AT athletes. State Relay teams will be coordinated from this spot. AT

physio arrangements can be made from this point.

All athletes will be required to collect their bibs and accreditation passes from AT Team

Management at this location.

Social Media – Athletics Tasmania

A Facebook group has been set up for all athletes/parents/coaches. The Facebook group can be

found via the following link: (3) Team Tas 2021 National Track and Field Champs | Facebook

This is a closed facebook page for those in the Tasmanian Team and all parents, family, coaches

etc. Please connect with this page and invite others that you wish to remain updated during the

event.

Entry Tickets

All entered athletes receive a pass to the Nationals and therefore don’t require a ticket to enter

the event. These passes will be handed out with competition bibs by team management who

collects the entire team’s passes at the technical meeting.

All others such as family, coaches and friends will need to purchase tickets to gain entry to the

event. Details for purchasing tickets will be made available on the AA website and I will

forward details as they come.

Event Merchandise

Please go to the AA website for all event merchandise information. This is not available as yet

and I will forward details as they come.

Withdrawal Fee

Athletes will require a medical certificate if they withdraw after the TEAM LEVY and ENTRY

is paid. The levy, LESS the nomination fee and an administration fee, will be refunded if the

athlete withdraws before the entry close date of 22nd March.

After 22nd March, there will be no refunds paid if athletes withdraw for any reason.

Athlete Expectations

Athletes are reminded that they are representing their state while at the Australian

Championships in Sydney. It is expected that athletes prepare in order to perform at their best at

the Championships. Athletes are to rest up well prior to their events and avoid sight-seeing and

shopping for more than an hour a day as this is draining and may impact on performance. There

is an expectation that athletes turn up to their event in excellent shape and represent their state

with pride and to the absolute best of their ability. How you approach the last few days of

preparation is just as important as the training you have completed in the previous 12 months.

ASADA

ASADA will have a presence and will conduct drug testing at the Australian Championships.

Therefore, we encourage all athletes, parents and coaches attending these Championships to

undertake some form of personal education around anti-doping and the testing process. Please

be aware of the process of Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) and the difference between

Junior and Open level athletes and retrospective TUEs.

The ASADA website contains:

• information regarding testing, testing processes, education, athlete rights and

responsibilities https://www.asada.gov.au/

• eLearning to complete the online Level 1 and Level 2 courses (if you haven’t already

done so)

• a video that explains the drug testing process
