Guidelines for Data on board RFID Tags of the Indian Railways
Track
EPC area:-The EPC area is ALWAYS read. From the Railways viewpoint it only
storesthe Information regarding the various features. Additionally, internally there is a
lot of information about the Tag thatis also stored including a unique identifier for
each tag. The data is stored in a format prescribed by an internationalstandard by an
organisation called GS1 and the associated standard is GS1 SGLN 195 Allocation
Rules.

Accuracy Figures for Track Component Video Inspection System
1. Fastenings
a) Base plate crack check with minimum width of 0.5 mm and length of 10.0 mm
2. Sleepers
a) Concrete sleeper crack with minimum width of 2 mm and minimum length 20
mm
b) Concrete sleeper misalignment with minimum rotation of 5.0 degree
c) Concrete sleeper level check with minimum difference of 2.0 mm w.r.t rail level
3. Rails
a) Linear longitudinal defect (Crack on rail top) with minimum width of 1.0 mm and
minimum length of 10.0 mm and Gauge corner defect with minimum size of
0.1mm x 0.9 mm. The Gauge corner defects needs to be reported when they are
more than 10 in 1 metre.
b) Area defect (Squat & wheel burn etc.) with minimum area of 10mm2
c) Joint gap measurement (Fish plated and SEJ) with minimum value of 2.0 mm
d) Misaligned and cupped weld detection & measurement with minimum value of
1.0 mm
4. Ballast
a) Excess/ Deficiency of ballast in terms of area with minimum identifiable area of
0.5m2
b) Level of ballast w.r.t center of sleeper with minimum value of 25.0 mm
Note: The under reporting/over reporting for above parameters shall not be more than
±10%.
