What is Upper G.I series ?

It is the radiographic examination of the distal esophagus, stomach and duodenum in one examination using a contrast media.

• Pt should be NPO from midnight until time of examination.

• food and drink should be withheld for at least 8 hours prior to the exam.

• The patient is instructed not to smoke or chew gum during the NPO period.
