Redstone American Grill
Chevy Chase MD
While working with the founder of Redstone American Grill, Dean Vlahos I had the opportunity to work some very talented architect's and designers. In a little over a year we worked on several new locations for Redstone as well as a new concept.
Our team consisted of Cynthia O’Connor (talented interior designer) as well as architect Duane Perry (from Mike Wilkus and associates).
This lack of filter is to some is a little unnerving but for whatever reason we hit it off well and I enjoyed working with him. In many ways he is one of the best restaurateurs I have ever met. He is always thinking of guest experience above all else. This unmovable dedication to wanting everything to be the best it can be is a very good lesson in what is and what isn't important in our business. I have often leaned on these principals since.
When I began working at Redstone Dean Vlahos was well into the design of this project Chevy Chase. I had never worked with Dean before it was a challenge gaining the confidence of such a passionate restaurant creator. Dean is famous for basically telling you exactly what he thinks at all times.
Great site we designed for a Redstone in Baltimore. The company gave up the site and Kona grill now does very well at this location.
Here is some pictures that arrived one morning. Fire underway in Chicago location. Pretty major exhaust system fire right over the very expensive open kitchen. We had it back open after a week of not sleeping
This and a the next few images are a concept that is called “Luxe” Dean’s passion to create a hip place with a European feel. We worked on designs for three locations . Cynthia O’Connor came up several really excellent idea’s for all parts of this concept and is great to work with.

This is what eventually what came of the Luxe work we did and was opened as BLVD near Wayzata MN. Again, Cynthia O’Connor lead the design and probably did most of the menu along with many other things. I worked early on the layout of this location
