THE CURRENT SITE
✓ Created in 2009✓ Has over 1,500 pages ✓ Includes sub-sites For Police, Fire, EMS, & Library✓ Includes a small picture slideshow on the home page✓ Over time consistency of formatting and presentation was lost✓ Includes tiered navigation that frequently falls off the page

THE CURRENT SITE✓ The second most visited page is search results
(homepage is #1). This indicates that many people aren’t able to find information they need by using the homepage navigation.
✓ Only 1 out of every 4 people who visit the site visit a page other than the home page.
✓ Only 1 out of every 7 people visit more than 2 pages on leaguecity.com
✓ We have had over 30,987 searches on leaguecity.com within the last year.

WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED IN THE REDESIGN OF LEAGUECITY.COM✓ Worked with staff to update every page of the
website and make sure that the information residents request most from staff is easily found on the site
✓ Eliminated broken links✓ Redesigned the site to reflect the City’s new brand
and logo✓ Streamlined the navigation✓ Created mini-sites for City directorates, grouping
like services in an attempt to make leaguecity.com more reflective of a virtual city hall

THE PROCESS✓ Two design concepts
✓ Nearly 500 photos
✓ Approximately 1000 man hours over 8 months
✓ Two focus groups - Focus groups included the City Council as well as active citizens and board members who contributed feedback to help the web team addresses common concerns
✓ New “branded” look - Redesigning the website wasn’t just about colors, but about branding and functionality
✓ Used analytics about visitors, page views, frequently visited pages, and click throughs, to create a site that’s more user-friendly

THE PROCESSANALYTICS THAT DROVE THE PROCESS:
✓ Statistics for August 2012- August 2013
✓ Approximately 46% new visitors
✓ 54% returning visitors
✓ 1.9 million page views
✓ Most page views on a single day: approximately 6,000 views
✓ Worked to create a site that’s user-friendly for new and returning site visitors as well as residents and non-residents.
✓ Analytics show views come from all over the world including London (2,000 views), Paris (1,000 views) and Barcelona (1,000 views) to give examples.
✓ We used this data and gathered more data to reorganize the site in a way that would make our most frequented pages and most search subjects prominent on the site.
✓ We also did research within the City’s departments to find the most frequently asked questions and frequently requested information for each department.

NEW FEATURES✓ Branded - A design that fits the City’s brand of a recreational lifestyle, complete
with the new City logo
✓ An easier to use navigation menu - The old navigation menu expanded out in a tiered fashion and some options extended off the page, making them hard to access. The new navigation is all self-contained in the new mega menus.
✓ An expanded photo slideshow that better highlights upcoming events and special announcements without cluttering the homepage
✓ Most popular pages listed on the homepage and the homepages of each of the mini-sites.

NEW FEATURES✓ Video - The homepage now also features a video tab for the latest videos
produced by the City of League City
✓ Mini-sites for Parks, Public Works, Helen Hall Library, Police, Emergency Service (Fire, EMS, Emergency management) and Planning and Development including the option of calendars and newsflashes specific to those mini-sites
✓ New and improved CIP project pages
✓ The City’s visitor site and economic development sites also received makeovers
