A modern interface

Current trends in web development lean towards a more

streamlined, clean interface. With the launch of Windows 8 as

well as Google’s “Card” structure, simple boxes arranged

aesthetically are quickly becoming the new, “modern” look for

websites (and other interfaces).

start to finish similar to our

Overview of Major Changes

“Boxes” was the favorite, but still

needed work.

Based on our surveys, we decided on key

major changes:

• Replace the acronyms ANTPAC and Melvyl to

the easy-to-understand “Search in UCI” and

“Search all UC Libraries”

• Rework individual UCI Library pages

• Rename the popular “Quick Links” to a more

modern “How do I” or “I want to”

More key changes:

• Keep “I want to” (previously Quick Links) only

on the main navigation page, and removed it on

subpages

• Use a breadcrumb style (ie: Home -> Library

Services -> Borrowing) to allow easy navigation

• A Search bar on the main page capable of

searching for all resources, from materials to

library policy to in-site information

• Having general library information including

current hours and a link to each library’s unique

information
