African dance played a vital role in culture of tribes, much more than entertainment; dances communicate emotions, celebrate rites of passage and help strengthen bonds between members of tribes.

Apartheid times saw a great deal of African people being enslaved and transported to different countries; this established plantation dances as these slaves kept to their traditional practices and with the effect of their environment came about fresh dance styles.

African Influenced dances include:· Tap dance· The Jitterbug· The twist· Jazz dance· Hip Hop· Crunking

African dance

3 Kings

Booking of 3 Kings: [email protected]

Even though these dance styles are initiated from African dance, Africans are the least to get recognition for dance in broad.

Dance group, 3 Kings, is on a mission to change all that though. They started in 2008 and have danced in 17 shows including the Scream Art Expo, high schools, Walter Sisulu Universtiy, and RUCC concerts to name a few.

With them dispersing to different provinces for Varsity they hope to expand their possibilities, fashioning a dance uprising in Africa…

The pieces, which range from signature wine carriers, accessories; earrings, bracelets and necklaces made from both felt and leather material, toted down to bags, wallets, felt scarves and also pillows, aprons, coasters and floor mats, have contributed significantly to economic growth, job creation and overall community development.

The resultant three-year partnership agreement between the Nelson Mandela Museum and the Government of Lower Saxony has stood proud as a prime example of local, national and international co-operation.

Products can be purchased from the Nelson Mandela Museum Qunu Complex about 30km from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape Province; they also can be seen at the Grahamstown National Festival and Scream Art Expo…

A G O L D C I R C L E H O R S E R A C I N G E V E N TSome of our beloved things are found in Cape Town: Table mountain, hot fashion and those oh so

gorgeous coloured boys…consequently it`s no wonder The J&B Met is held there annually.

With fun, regalia and couture being the order of business, one should expect to mingle with hot DJ`s, fashionable celebs and a great blend of people (including some yummy coloured boys).

And if that doesn't tinkle your fancies, there`s a horse race too.

On the 28th of January be ready to have your best frock, an over-the-top hat, sunscreen and R175 accessible as you head to the Kenilworth Racetrack, Cape Town for some mad fun.

O on the ROLL!!!t first glance you would never associate Aher with hip hop

music, with her pencil stilettoes, boho top and tights, the effervescent and robust Amanda aka SaneSkitzo is truly a lady of class.

Brought up in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, she started out rapping along to P daddy's lyrics and also doing backup vocals for her brother “L” as he too was a rapper of some sort. Though she never aspired to be a rapper herself, she`s always known that the was something matchless about her…she had an art pedigree.

10 months after her being discovered by Top-Shayela who has worked and produced for the late Busi Mhlongo, Sane-Skitzo has opened for Teargas at Miss KSD 2011, performed at the Silly Summer party annually hosted in PSJ, is being offered recording deals by the likes of Bongani Fassie and has already shot a video for her hit single “Skitzo`s on the roll”.

1st lady of the 1st Rap Team…

Crowned the 1st lady of the 1st Rap Team, Sane-skitzo is definitely “getting power”.

Currently working on her 1st solo album offering, she has turned a new leaf, dropping the “skitzo” lyrics and becoming more “sane” and soulful.

“I`ve been training myself to stop using cursing words with my music” she says, she cites one of her singles, Bhuti Razo baby, a soulistic rap flow that reminds one of Miss Lauryn Hill but with a xhosa twist to it.

Have ditched Varsity and going to bible school instead, there is nothing “ordinary” about this lady.

She is all about crushing the norms and instigating an evolution.

COLOUR

ING

!!!

Be all about COLOUR,

not just one colour, but

all colours. One of the seasons

leading trend is “colour

blocking” which isn't

only limiting to a

Mondrian style print,

but also about wearing

more than one colour

at a time → hip hop

heads have been

getting away with it for

years…

Usually a term used with optical filters, colour blocking is all about transmitting colours; LOUD, BOLD and DRAMATIC!!!

why ...not join them?

ounded by Yuri Lee, in 2008 Lookbook is rapidly gaining popularity not only with the glam, elegant fashionistas and Fdivas but also with the artless, fashion confused girl next

door.

It is a “fashion, youth culture and community website” where anyone from the “Blair Waldforfs” of the world to the “Jenny Humphry`s” can upload a “look” (outfit), provided they`re a registered member, and have people like or rather “hype” and comment on their look.

Managed by

Inspired by street fashion websites and blog spots, Yuri Lee initiated this Fashion and Photo blog which is also called “Digg.com for Fashion insiders”.

With all its growing popularity Lookbook has been covered by; The Chicago Tribute, Elle Belgium, and Status Magazine among others…
