About the Red Scare The Red Scare was when people feared communism would take over. Reds was a name they used to call communists. Occurred during the Cold War. People destroying the country were American communists and citizens assisting communists.

Accusations During the Red Scare Many people were suspected of being communists. Investigated the government, educational systems and entertainment industry. Intellectuals were suspected.

McCarthyism McCarthyism was a second Red Scare. Occurred during the 1940 s and 1950 s. Joseph McCarty made an accusation that there were communists in the United States.

Accusations During McCarthyism People who were suspected were mostly writers and entertainers. Consequences of accused communists. Unable to continue working. Got passports taken away. Jailed. The trials were publicized. Political tensions were heigtened.
