    The book selections for

    January are some of the

    most incredible picks to

    date. After spending a

    weekend listening to

stories from both PatConroy and Sonny Brewer,

    they are, I believe, the

    Shakespeares of our time.

    In Sonny Brewers new

    book,Dont Quit Your Day

    Job: Acclaimed Authors

and the Jobs they Quit, he

    has collected an array of

    talented Southern authors

    stories that feed the soul

    for anyone who loves to

read or has the ambition to

become a writer. He is a

force to be reckoned with..His previous works The

    Poet of Tolstoy Park, The

    Widow and the Tree, andA

    Sound Like Thunder are

    stories that touch the

    heartstrings on many

    levels.

    Pat Conroy, as you know,

is a legend in the industry,

    with his novels The Prince

    of Tides, South of Broad,

    and many more. Although

much of his time at the2011 Girlfriend Weekend

    was sharing funny stories

    with friend and mentor

    Bernie Schein, his message

    was clear, he writes

    because we read and his

    new book My Reading Life

    is about just that, reading.

    He read an excerpt from

    pgs. 304-305.

    Good writing is the

    hardest form of thinking. It

    involves the agony of

turning profoundly difficultthoughts into lucid form,

    then forcing them into the

    tight-fitting uniform of

    language, making them

    visible and clear. If the

    writing is good, then the

    result seems effortless and

    inevitable.
