She changes Wilbur to try to fix the problem. In the end she realises that the best thing to do it change the colours of the house. Task 1 – Imagine that you are Wilbur and you are up in the tree. You are a multi-coloured cat! Write a letter to Winnie from the top of the tree. Think about what has happened in the story so far and how you feel. What do you want Winnie to do next? Try to use conjunctions to explain your thoughts (and, but, because, so, or, if, when Task 2 – In the story, Winnie has to use lots of magic to make things change colour. Write a magic spell which would change objects in the house into different colours. You could try to make it rhyme. See Resource 1 for some ideas. Or you could try an acrostic poem using the word ‘MAGIC’. Task 3 – In the story, Winnie has a black cat which causes her problems in her black house. Can you think of a different version of the story – maybe you have a pet at home which might cause a problem if your house was all one colour? Have a go at writing a short story of your own. If you’d prefer, you could write a different Winnie story using Resource 2. Try to use plenty of WOW words and remember capital letters and full stops. You could even draw some pictures to go alongside your writing!

This week you are revisiting 2D shapes and thinking about their properties. Task 1 – Watch the video https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjv39j6/articles/ztpwdmn Complete the activities beneath the video and then go on a shape hunt around your house and garden. How many of each shape can you find? Look out for: squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons and octagons. Explain to your adult how you know what the shape you have found is. Can you find any other 2D shapes? Find out the name of these too using the internet! Task 2 – Play “What’s in the bag?” Use real life shapes from around your house or cut some shapes up and place them in a bag. Take turns with your adult to choose a shape in the bag and describe its properties. Your partner then has to guess the shape. Task 3 – Draw a picture of your house using only 2D shapes. Can you label each shape and describe its properties? How many sides and how many corners? Try to use all of the different 2D shapes that you know!

Geography: Use the Human and Physical Geography glossary (Resource 4) to remind you about the differences between human and physical features of a location. On your daily walk, keep your eyes peeled for human and physical features of the area that you live in. Record what you spot using the observation list (Resource 5) if you are able to print it or create your own list as you go. Why not have a go at labelling whether the features are human (H) or physical (P)? If you are unable to go out for a walk, you could explore from inside the safety of your garden or from an upstairs window!
