Saskatoon’s new residential recycling program will help preserve our city’s beauty for future generations to enjoy.

In 2011, the City of Saskatoon collected and recycled more than 7,000 tonnes of paper from our community recycling depots. With our new residential recycling program, we believe we can double that number to at least 14,000 tonnes in 2013.

With your support and participation, we can divert household waste from the landfill and into the recycling system. Let’s all work together to reach our goal.

Roll your blue cart out by 7 a.m. on your recycling collection day and place it in the same location as your black garbage cart. Loraas Recycle will empty your cart every two weeks. If weather/mechanical delays prevent them from collecting your recyclables on your designated collection day, please leave your cart out until it is collected.

how much will recycling cost me?The2013recyclingfeeis$4.66permonth. It will automatically be added to your municipal utility bill after your cart has been delivered and service has begun. Saskatoon’s recycling program is one of the most affordable in Canada.

how will the city handle enforcement of proper use of the carts?We will all experience a learning curve and might make mistakes at first. Loraas employees will do their best to notify residents when mistakes occur by leaving a note on the recycling cart. In some cases, inappropriate use of blue recycling carts may result in warnings and continued misuse may result in fines.
