Time for garbage to decompose:

Banana peel = 3 to 4 weeks



Paper bag = 1 month



Wool sock = 1 to 5 years



Cigarette butt = 5 years



Plastic bag = 10-20 years



Tin can = 80 to 100 years



Aluminum can = 500 years



Glass bottle = 1,000 years



Styrofoam = unknown (a really long, long time)
