ERIE’s Story

•  Erie Insurance is a Fortune 500 company in Erie, PA. •  The company has an excellent reputation with average

tenure close to 15 years and around 5% turnover rate. •  We have been experiencing high levels of growth as well as

geographic expansion. •  The problem is, we aren’t in a “destination location” – like

NYC or L.A., so how do we get top tier talent to move to Erie?

•  We decided to use Social Media to tell our story!

ERIE’s Story

•  Erie Insurance Careers decided to take a proactive approach late in 2013 and expanded use of Social Media outlets to include Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

•  Prior to this time, there was limited use of a Facebook page and LinkedIn with no usage of Twitter.

ERIE’s Story

•  Throughout 2014, a concerted effort was made to maintain activity on all three social media outlets.

•  This resulted in decent growth of all channels.

•  In addition, Erie Careers began using LinkedIn Recruiter seats and job slots to proactively reach audiences beyond the traditional reach within the "Erie Triangle" - Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo.

In 2015, Erie Careers has shifted to a structured social media calendar focused on evangelizing the Location, Opportunities, Culture, and Community to "LOCC" in a talent pool, showing all the reasons why Erie, PA and indeed Erie Insurance should be a destination location for top tier talent seeking career opportunities.

The draw to Erie was the hometown feel, the community atmosphere (both with ERIE and the city itself), the close proximity to larger areas (Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo) without having to deal with the daily traffic, commute, cost of living and other unpleasant headaches living in a larger metropolitan area brings.
