General DefinitionsProspect: someone who has started classes for the ninth gradeOff-Campus Recruiters: must have passed the annual NCAA Recruiting Test before being certified to recruit off-campusContact Period: in-person, off-campus contacts and evaluations are allowedEvaluation Period: off-campus evaluations only; no contacts allowedQuiet Period: only permissible to have contact on-campus; no in-person, off-campus contacts or evaluationsDead Period: no recruiting contacts or evaluations on-campus or off-campus

Recruiting MaterialsHigh School Freshmen & Sophomores: A coach may only send a questionnaire, a letter explaining the rules, a referral to admissions, and a camp brochure.They may write to college coaches as much as they like High School Juniors & Seniors:Starting June 15 before the junior year, college coaches may send recruiting materials. Electronic media may be included, but not video.

Telephone Calls & Text MessagesHigh School Freshmen & Sophomores:College coaches may not telephone or text prospects not even to return a call from a prospect or parents.They may make calls to coaches as often as they like.High School Juniors & Seniors:Starting June 15 before the junior year, college coaches may telephone and text prospects. There are no restrictions on the number of calls/texts.

Electronic TransmissionsAll electronic transmissions must be sent directly to the prospectException: after NLI signing, correspondence may be public (e.g., Tweets)No use of chat rooms, message boards, posts to wallsElectronic transmissions may not include animation, audio, or video clipsNo texts (or phone calls) to prospect during Lindenwood games.

Off-Campus ContactsHigh School Freshmen & Sophomores: No off-campus contact with prospect or parents other than a brief exchange that does not exceed a greetingHigh School Juniors & Seniors: Starting June 15 before the junior year in high school, college coaches are allowed off-campus contacts with prospects and their parents

Contact RestrictionsAt prospects school: Must receive permission from school prior to having contact during school dayAt practice or competition site:No contact until after competition is complete and prospect has been released by coachMay talk to parents of contactable prospects (in contact period)May talk to prospect on days without competition during a multi-day tournament

TryoutsTiming of TryoutsFor prospects after June 15 of their sophomore year, allows tryouts to occur at any time outside of a prospects traditional playing season.Traditional playing season starts with the first official team practice and concludes with the high school team's final competition. Two-Year Transfers: After conclusion of season or eligibility exhaustedFour-Year Transfers: After conclusion of sport season and permission to contact is granted

Lindenwood requirementsOfficial or Unofficial Visit form must be filled out minimum of 48 hours prior to the visit. (found on J drive). Visit must be approved through Compliance and Sport Supervisor before it is confirmed with prospect. Entertainment monies requested for more than four people must be submitted 7 business days prior to the recruitment visit.Reimbursement forms must be submitted within one week of the visit, including the approved visit form.

Lindenwood requirementsDocument recruiting: especially first three phone calls in CA, contact, evaluation, visits.Log first phone call and date entered into CA on the monthly call logPost recruiting calendars for your referencePlan ahead for visits: have them register with the NCAA and have transcripts evaluated After visits, turn in recruiting paperwork within 1 week
