Lydia E. Pinkham s Vegetable Compound is successful
in.
overcoming a woman s ills because it contains the tonic
strengthening properties of good old-fashioned roots
a:nd
herbs, which
act on
the
female organs.
Women
from
aU
parts of
the country are
continually testifying
to its strength-
enin
g
curative. influence.
-
When Lydia
E.
Pinkham s remedies were first intro-
duced, their curative powers had to be proved. But the
proof came
and
gradually
the
use of these remedies
has
s p r ~ d
over the whole country. Now that hundreds of
thousands of women have experienced
the
most beneficial
effects from the use of these medicines, their value has
become generally recognized, and Lydia E. Pinkham s
Vegetable Compound is the
standard
remedy for women.
The many convincing testimonials constantly published
o
ught
to be proof enough to women who suffer from those
distressing ills peculiar to their sex,
that
Lydia E. Pinlth.am s
Vegetable Compound is the medicine
they
need. This
good old root and herb remedy has proved tmequalled in
controlling the diseases of women;
it
contains what is needed
to restore a woman s health
and
strength .
When
a remedy has lived for forty years,
stead
ily grow
ing
in popularity and
influence,
and
thousands upon
thou-
sands of women declare
they
owe their health to it, is it
notreasonable to believe that it is an article of
g ~ e t
merit?
.We.know of no medicine which has been so successful
in
relieving t h ~ sufferings of women as has Lydia
E.
Pinkham s
Vegetable Compound.

ow to Amuse the Children
How
to
amuse the children
is one of the problems whicn
every mother
must
face. A
delightful pastime is played with
a small feather.
The
children are
grouped together and a small feather
thrown into the air. t is
the
business of
every play
to
blow the feather toward
or her neighbor, for if the feather should fall on
or near an. individual, that person goes out of the
game. The children are not allowed to
run
away from
the feather outside a definite line which may be
marked
with chalk. Anyone who is responsible for sending the
feather outside of bounds also goes
out
of
the
game.

Potato Race- For a

(10

are placed
in
a row,
one pile for each player. At a
given signal
the players carry the
potatoes, one at a time,
to
the goal.

Sack
Race-For
the sack race each contestant steps:
into a sack of burlap
and
has
it
tied around his waist.
20-yard Dash-The players start from a given point,
each with a tumbler of water
on
his head,
to
walk
to
a goali
20
yards away.
The tumbler must
remain untouched
on the head until the goal is reached.
I had inflammation of the womb and for three months
menstruation came every two weeks.
I
thought
I

~ r k e Care
Another simple game for
children. T h i s must be
played
out
of doors. On a flat
piece of ground, a little pile of
dry earth or
sand is made.
Take
a small stick and in a cleft
at the top
fit a square of white paper
to
represent a
flag. Finally push
the
stick down
the
centre
of
the
mound. Each player is given a stick,
~ N ~ ; -
and
the
object of
the
game is
to
emove a little
of
the earth
from
the
mound without upsetting
the
flag.
The last
stages of
the
game are exciting, as a trifle
will often upset
the
flag. The player who is responsible
for
the
failure goes out of the game and
the
flag is set up
again. The player who holds
out
to the end is the winner.
TO HELP
OTHER
WOMEN
After terrible sufferings, numberless women have used
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and recovered
from ailments peculiar
to
their sex.
Many
of these, who
cannot bear that
other
women should suffer as they did
without knowing what to do, have written letters telling
their experience,
to
be published
to the
world. These
honest, helpful stories are constantly appearing in the news-
papers and in our little books. Read them, ailing women,
they are written with no motive
but
your good.
I
was weak and all run down, also
had
female trouble.
I took Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and Liver .
Pills
and
soon felt a great change
and
got stronger.
The
pills were excellent for the liver. I keep them most all
the
time. I wish every user of Lydia
E.
Pinkha.m:s medicine
as great relief as I received from it.

The
Magic
Circle
This is quite a mystery
to the uninitiated. A circle
is formed
and
two who under-
stand the game
take
charge. One
offers to leave
the
room
and
when she
comes back she will shake hands with
the
person the other leader
has shaken hands
with after she left
the
room. The secret is
simple. The person who spoke last before she
left
the
room is
the
one chosen
to
be shaken
by the
hand
WOMAN'S MARTYRDOM
How many men,
think
you,
have
any idea of the
pain
and misery endured
by
women of their own households,
who suffer from ills peculiar to
their
sex?
They
often see
them
smiling
and
trying
to
be
cheerful even while racked
with pain. f every such woman would only be guided
by
the experience of thousands of others who
have
been re-
stored to
health by
that
grand
old remedy,
Lydia
E.
Pink-
ham's Vegetable Compound, much sufferingmight be avoided.
I want
to tell you how
much
I
have been
benefited
by
your
wonderful medicine.
About
eight years ago I
got
in such a low state of health I was unable to keep house
for three
in the
family. I had dull, tired, dizzy feelings,
cold
feet
and hands nearly all
the time and
could scarcely
sleep at all. The doctor said I had ulcerated womb and
without an
operation I would always
be an
invalid,
but
I
told
him
I
wanted
to
wait
awhile. Our dealer advised my
,
husband to get
Lydia E.
Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound
and
it
has
entirely cured me. Now I keep house for seven
and work in the garden some,
too
. I am so
thankful
I got
this medicine I feel as
though it
saved my life and have
recommended it to others.

WORTH KNOWING
Women are liable to ailments which cause constant
ill-health and on which they may consult doctors with
out
much relief.
It
is well worth knowing that they can
get
at
the nearest drug store, a simple medicine, made of
roots and herbs, which is just what they need to recover
health.
That
medicine is
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
Compound.
Two years ago I felt so bad that I was sure I would die.
I had hot flashes by day and I was just tired out all the time.
and
at
night I was worse
in
every way. I began taking
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and I feel that it
. strengthens me
and
gives me new life, both in body and
.spirit. I had a letter from
my
daughter last week telling
me that she is taking Vegetable Compound and is doing
her own work now, and she is not troubled with
the
bearingo
down pains any more.

Youth

GRANDMOTHER S MEDICINES
Our grandmothers were wise

they made us familiar. Now their grand-daughters get

medicine which women find best for their own ailments, is
the

by the

t
illustrates
and describes
the
medicinal qualities of roots, leaves
and
flowers of
our
most common weeds, which are nature's
remedies for disease. From
the
roots and herbs of the
field Lydia
E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound was origi
nated more than forty years ago, and the demand for it has
increased until it is now recognized as
the
standard remedy
for female ills.
Before I was married I worked in the shop and got
all
run
down. I was
ll
for nearly a ,year with stomach
trouble, could
not eat
anything,
and
there was a gnawing
and
burning sensation. I doctored
with

and they did me no good and I got worse. Mother got me
Lydia

FASHIONS, OR WOMAN S HEALTH
The
first thing many persons think of finding on the
Woman's Page of a newspaper is
the
Fashions.
That
is
not what women most need to find there. Health is the
first thing,
and
many women lack it. Notes, telling how
to preserve
the
health are of
the
greatest value and interest
for women; and, if they are suffering from woman's ailments,
they read
with
the
most
intense interest how other women
got well from
their
ailments,
and
so
they
too get
what made
them well-Lydia E. Pinkham s Vegetable Compound.
For
four years I

female troubles, headaches
and
was nervous. I
did
not care to sleep at night, had no

f
I began any work I
would have to lie down before it was finished. A friend
advised me

and
I have been

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
A proprietary medicine like everything else that
before the public has to prove its merit,
t
has to meet
competition. The law of
the
Survival of the Fittest
applies to this as to other things, The fact
that
Lydia E.
Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound after forty years of suc
cess is still one of
the
largest sellers, proves that
it
is a
pendab1e,
standard
remedy for the ailments of womankind,
and one in which
they
may have perfect confidence,
-
I had a
baby and
no doubt got around too soon
and
caused an inflammation of the womb. suffered a great
deal of
pain
in
those
parts
and
i
I slipped off a stone
in
walking out or got the least jar, it would
hurt
me terribly,
I even had spasms of the womb and
the
doctor said I must
go to the hospital and have an operation. I objected to
that,
yet
people told me I was looking
very
badly. One
day a lady calling upon me advised me to take Lydia
Eo
Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound for she said she had had
womb trouble dreadfully .and had doctored and got no good
results,
but
she took
the
Compound
and
was cured. I
began taking it at once
and
after the first bottle I was better,
and
four bottles cured me. I find
many
women who speak
highly of
the
Compound, and I have told
many
of it.

The Adv..ertising Game j
A
good game
to
test one's
powers of observation is
the
advertising game.
The
hostess
cuts
out
from magazines and news-
papers
the
most striking
adverti
se-
ments of soup, soap,
gum,
patent
med-
icines, cereals, automobiles, etc.,
cutting
off
any lettering
which would show the name
of the article advertised
and
leaving you .
to
guess
it by the
picture.
Make
up a good assort-
ment of these
to the
number of
twenty, number
each
one carefully, and hand each guest a
paper
and pencil
to
note
down
their
guesses. Give
them twenty
minutes
to
write
their
answers, then correct the papers
and award
a
prize to the one guessing the largest number.
VOTES OF
WOM N
Do
women realize
that
they
already vote in the most
effective way on important questions? Every
time
a woman
buys
an
article it is a vote, backed by money, for
that
article ; a sincere approval of
its
merits. So women
have
been voting
on
the question of health. vVhen they have
suffered from
wo:nan's
ailments their
vote has
been
over-
whelmingly for
Lydia E. Pinkham s Vegetable Compound,
which they have bought and used with satisfaction.
I would
not
be here today
i
it had not
been
for your
medicine. I was suffering
with falling of the womb, ir-
regular menstruation and constipation.
I had
pains in my
side and
almost continuous
headaches.
I
started
to
take
Lydia E. Pinkham s Vegetable Compound
and
used
the
Sanative Wash, and
now I
cannot
express my
joy and
happi-
ness to you for the
great
relief they
have
given me. . I
always tell the sick about your remedies.
Plea
se publish
and express
my
gratitude to all. MRS.

A MEDICINE OF MERIT
The
great sale of Lydia E.
Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound
all over this land is
the
result of genuine merit.
The
reason
is
that
this good- old-fashioned root and herb medicine
actually helps those suffering from the ailments peculiar
to women. f it did not, would not the women have found
it
out
in forty years so that few o them would
buy
it?
Before taking Lydia E. Pinkha:in's Vegetable Compound
I suffered from backache and pains n the lower part of my
stomach
the
first
and
second
day
of menstruationo l
thought I would
try
the Vegetable Compound and I must say
it
has done me a lot of good as I do not suffer now when I

'The girls sit n a circle,
a ving one extra chair. One
boy stands behind each chair.
The boy behind the empty chair
starts the game by winking at one of
the
girls. The boy behind her chair
must be quick enough to put his hands
on
her shoulders
to
keep her from rising and sitting
in the empty chair. f he does not succeed, his
chair is left
vacant and he must wink 'em into
it,
and so
the game continues. The boys
must not
keep their hands on the girls' shoulders.
A DELEGATION OF WOMEN
were intensely interested when they recently visited the
Pinkham
Laboratory
at
Lynn,
Mass., and saw
..
the
extreme
cleanliness and
purity
which prevail in
the
preparation
and storing of
Lydia E. Pinkham s Vegetable Compound.
I am 28 years old and was sick for two years with
n ~
fl.ammation of the ovaries. I was run down and nervous,
and
had
pains in my sides and back, was irregular, and
every
month
I would have
to
cry I was in so much misery.
I was so
dizzy
I could
not
walk across
the
floor
and
would
have
fainting spells,
was also
constipated
and
had sick
headaches and sick stomach.
The
doctor said he couldn't
do
me
any good,
that
I would have to have an operation.
A friend told me
to try Lydia E. Pinkham s Vegetable
Compound
and
by
the time I
had
taken half a
bottle
I was
up and
around,
and
now, after taking ten bottles I
am
well
and strong, can do the housework and never get tired. I
don't have the pains in my sides and back, don't have the
headache at all, have a good appetite, sleep well, and have
rosy cheeks. I tell all my friends
that
the Vegetable Com-
pound will help
them
too.
