A “city” resident lives within the City limits of Vero Beach and/or owns real estate in the corporate limits of the City of Vero Beach.

A “non-city” resident lives within Indian River County.

Proof of residency: Voter Registration, tax receipt, electric bill (however, some non-city residents pay City of Vero Beach utilities)

Are you covered? The City of Vero Beach does not carry medical or accident insurance for its participants. The cost would make fees

prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you & your family have proper coverage.

Beach wheelchairs are available free of charge during guarded hours at our beaches. Call 234-8375.

Sales tax will be added to fees, where applicable.

Our facilities and playgrounds are substance/tobacco/vaping free recreation complexes. No smoking in any area.

Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Make up days will be scheduled if possible.

function. We offer the Vero Beach Community Center and Leisure Square Pool & Sports facilities, as well

as the Riverhouse and Bethel Creek House, both of which are located on the Indian River. We also offer

use of parks and our outside facilities, the Grand and Picnic Pavilions, located at Riverside Park. For

Centerstage Acrobatic Complex is a 4,500 square foot gymnastics facility in Vero Beach offering

recreational and performing arts classes for boys and girls ages walking to teen. All gymnastics staff

have been trained and are under the direction of USA Gymnastics National Safety Instructors. The City

Recreation Department’s philosophy is to promote self-esteem, leadership, and performing experience

through skill-building and positive encouragement. We emphasize the education and accomplishment

of performing skills at the student’s individual, progressive level without the pressure of competition. We

believe that all children are capable and ingenious individuals. Gymnastics is a medium for kids to

explore and build on their physical, mental and emotional capabilities. It is a sport that presents

challenges in new and exciting formats that is pure fun for kids. The developmental skills gained

through gymnastics classes lay the foundation for future use in many other sports. In addition, the

personal lessons learned through goal setting, perseverance and self reflection are useful for a lifetime

of adventures. All gymnastics classes are held in Centerstage at Leisure Square.

ACROTOTS -

A class that creates movement in 3 - 5 year olds by utilizing gymnastics apparatus. Our instructors introduce your child to gymnastics in a skill-structured, but fun, age appropriate environment. Your child will playfully learn gymnastics while developing strength, balance, flexibility and coordination. This is the first gymnastics class where the child participates without a parent.

DIAPER DAREDEVILS -

This class is designed as an introduction to the world of gymnastics. This is a fun class for you and your youngster ages walking to 3 years old. The children will explore movement in a maze of colorful equipment with the help of you and a caring staff encourages your child’s natural desire to explore movement. Spend time with your child while enjoying a fun and colorful adventure. Parent participation is required.

KIDNASTICS -

A comprehensive and all-inclusive class combining gymnastics and dance. Ages 6 and up. Students will receive instruction in bars, balance beam, floor exercise, as well as trampoline. INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED GYMNASTICS -

A class for the intermediate/advanced 6 - 12 year old gymnast. A backbend and strong cartwheel must be mastered to register for this class. Participants will learn and perform advanced skills on the floor, bars, beam, trampoline, and mini-trampoline. This class meets once a week.

GYMNASTICS/AERIAL CLASS -

Incorporates all aspects of the performing arts program. Your child will receive aerial acrobatics and gymnastics instruction. The curriculum will be built around the students to allow personalized development and attention. Students will work on various aerial disciplines, improve strength and flexibility, develop new skills, and learn combinations sequences tailored to their abilities. Apparatuses include rings, trapeze, web, hoop and more. Your child must have mastered a backbend and strong cartwheel to be eligible for this class.

HOME SCHOOL PHYSICAL FITNESS -

Centerstage believes in building strong kids, adults and families through a progressive sports program stressing skill development, fun, and physical fitness. We strive to support and strengthen family life, teach physical skills, build self-esteem, provide everyone an opportunity to participate and keep competition in proper perspective.

Children will learn the basics of a variety of gymnastics, aerial skills, dance, and circus acts. This program is for home schooled students ages 5 - 14.

OPEN GYMNASTICS CLASS -

Ages 7 - 13. Practicing a new skill? Or just want to refine your existing ones? This is a time for being with friends in a relaxed non-structured situation where you can spend extra time on skills you particularly like. Have a super fun time at Open Gym. Climb on a beam, jump on our trampolines or just have fun. It is a time for children to practice their gymnastics skills. Open gyms are supervised by safety certified instructors. SPRING BREAK MINI CHEER CAMP -

A fun filled week of learning cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, dances, tumbling, making great friends, and so much more! Pre-pare a routine for an exhibition at the end of the week. Anyone ages 7 and older are welcome. Bring a bag lunch, a swimsuit and towel everyday. Limited to 50 participants. Participants must wear sneakers and will receive a FREE t-shirt.

The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department will offer summer camps for children 6 - 12

years old. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure, and fun environment with supervision. Camps

offer an opportunity for youth to make new friends and spend their summer participating in

recreational and educational programs. There will be 9 weeks of camp (You do not have to

attend all 9 weeks). Two camps will be offered: Sports/Aquatics Camp and Aerial Antics

Camp. Registration will begin February 27, 2017. Summer camps will run nine (One-week)

SPORTS / AQUATICS CAMPS AT LEISURE SQUARE -

A full-day summer program with a great chance for kids to play their favorite sports all at one camp. The emphasis is on a variety of sports and recreational activities for youth ages 6 - 12 including volleyball, tennis, kickball, football & basketball. Children learn fundamental skills in a fun and supportive environment that emphasizes character development, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Weekly trips and activities will include bowling, movies, skating, and swimming. Special activities will include field day events, games and out of county trips.

AERIAL ANTICS CAMP AT LEISURE SQUARE -

We strongly recommend that students attend 9 weeks in order to gain the full benefits of this camp. This Circus based summer camp is now in its 43rd year. This camp trains boys and girls ages 6 - 12 for a performance at the end of the summer. Instruction areas include gymnastics, tumbling, circus aerial, and dance. Fun-filled camp activities include swimming, movies, arts & crafts, games, and off-site activities such as bowling and skating.

End of summer performance will be held August 3, 4, and 5, 2017

JR. STAFF VOLUNTEERS -

Junior Staff volunteers serve as role models, help mentor campers, and lead basic camp activities. Colleges, work environments, clubs and social groups require effective leadership to succeed. Our Junior Staff program is designed to provide valuable experience for mature teens in all areas of recreation including performing arts, guidance, sports, and safety. The Junior Staff Volunteers will assist Leisure Square Specialty Summer Camp Counselors in one of 2 specialty camps. You must be 13, 14 or 15 years old to participate. JUJUTSU * -

A close combat martial art. The practice of flexibility, pliable and adaptable for a variety of systems of fighting while unarmed or minimally armed: the ancient precursor to Karate, Judo, and Aikido. Come learn from instructor Shihan Posada who studied under Grand Master Moses Powell.

A group class which uses circuit style training to focus on overall strength improvements. Resistance bands, dumbbells, steppers, exercise balls, and ankle weights are utilized and provided. Class utilizes water as a means of resistance which provides a three dimensional environment when working joints through different exercises.
