RECORDING FROM ONLINE RESOURCES

library.dmu.ac.uk

Why do we record our results?

If you use information in your work you have to state where you got that information from. You have to reference the information.

So by recording its location as soon as possible you save yourself time and anxiety when you later come to write up your work.

So here we have the reference and permalink so we can easily get to the resource online.

It would also be worth making some notes at this stage about why you think the resource is useful and how you might use it.

Other databases

Many subject-specific databases give you the option to copy and paste references into a document.

Look for an option that is usually called ‘Cite’. Check the help pages of the database if you cannot find the option.

We will look at the cite option in the Ebsco databases.
