To Whom It May Concern: November 7, 2013 Ms. Lauren Davis stands out by personifying exemplary scholarship, leadership/athletic acumen, character, and community service. In my Advanced Placement Language and Composition class as a junior, she clearly distinguished herself as a proficient writer and speaker with superior critical thinking and reasoning skills, proving herself throughout the school year as a facilitator of meaningful literary discussions with keen insight, clarity, and depth of understanding. Critically analyzing literature with a high level of complexity, her literary expertise often came to the forefront. Blessed with a positive attitude and overall cheerful disposition, her affable manner and natural leadership ability is consistently manifested in her various interactions with faculty and peers. Both in the classroom and on the volleyball court, Ms. Davis exhibits leadership qualities worth emulating. Earning a varsity letter all four years of her high school volleyball career and currently serving as captain, she has also been accorded recognition every year for excellence as a scholar/athlete during her tenure. A volleyball California Interscholastic Federation finalist two years in a row, last year culminated in a CIF championship and an appearance in the State Regional finals. The consummate team player, she was able to achieve the ultimate individual and team goals with hard work, humility, diligence, tenacity, dedication, and perseverance. Possessing impeccable character traits, she is also gracious, trustworthy, respectful, and conscientious, characteristics that serve her and others well. Regarding community service endeavors, she has been involved extensively with myriad extracurricular activities and charity work. Serving senior citizens through her church and Interact Club, she has also been a Pet Adoption volunteer and Safe School Ambassador, which supports an anti-bullying campaign. Membership in the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, and Christian Club is further testament that she is one who genuinely desires to make a difference in the world around her. Because of the aforementioned attributes and her tremendous potential, I enthusiastically and wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Lauren Davis for admission to your highly esteemed institution of learning, without hesitation. Sincerely, Darryl Wear English Dept. Rim of the World High School
