Eagle Adventure Recipes – Together we can prevent diabetes!

You will need:• 1 small or medium apple• 1 can mandarin oranges• Small plate• Can opener (adult use)• Sharp knife (adult use)
Options: Be creative! Try to make the turtle using other fruits or vegetables. Instead of the apple, try a pear, peach, bell pepper or tomato. Instead of the oranges, try cherry halves, grapes, celery slices or carrot slices. You could also use a butter knife to carve a turtle shell design into the apple.
Adults: Use a sharp knife to cut apple in half, remove core and discard. Using can opener, open mandarin oranges and discard sharp edged lid.
What to do: 1. Wash hands; get out

Turtle Treat (Loksi’ Impa’)
You will need:• 1 small or medium carrot• 1 celery stalk• 2 tablespoons low-fat or

Adults: Use a sharp knife to cut carrot and celery into sticks after child has peeled carrot.

peel carrot.4. Place carrots and celery on

Also try your Turtle Treat with peanut butter, soy butter or low-fat yogurt for some added flavor.

Fruit Snake
You will need:• 2 small bananas• 4 raisins• Small plate• Butter knife
What to do: 1. Wash hands; get out
ingredients and utensils.2. Peel banana and use butter
knife to cut banana in half lengthwise.
3. Place 2 banana halves on small plate end to end, in an “s” shape.
4. Add raisins to the top of banana as eyes.
5. Enjoy your Fruit Snake.
Options: Be creative! Try to make the snake using other fruits or vegetables. Instead of the banana, try slices of kiwifruit, grapes, sliced bananas or berries. Yogurt or peanut butter could be added to the top for more flavor. Add a sliver of apple or other fruit to the end of the snake for a tongue.

3. Use butter knife to cut a tail, ears and feet from another pear half. Add each part to the body.
4. Use butter knife to cut 1 raisin in half and place on small end for eyes.

Adults: Using can opener, open pear halves and discard sharp edged lid.
Options: Be creative! Try to make the rabbit using other fruits or vegetables. Instead of the pear, try canned peach or nectarine halves or fresh fruits such as pears, apples or peaches.

Adults: Use a sharp knife to cut off the ends of celery. Cut each celery stalk in half and the cauliflower floret into 4 smaller pieces.
Options: Be creative! Add ants or other critters to your log by adding raisins or tomatoes attached with peanut butter. Or, instead of celery and cauliflower, use carrots and broccoli. Fat-free cream cheese or low-fat yogurt may be used instead of peanut butter.

4. Use butter knife to spread peanut butter on top edges.
5. Place second piece of celery on top forming a log.

What to do: 1. Wash hands; get out utensils.2. Choose the ingredients you
want to use.3. Measure the suggested
