YOUR RECERTIFICATION CYCLE

• Sixty credit hours are needed to recertify your HR certification

• Your Recertification Cycle is the three-year period allotted to earn the 60 recertification credit hours needed to maintain your certification

• Recertification Cycle begins the day you pass your certification exam

• Recertification End Date is last day of your three year cycle—for suspended status

SUSPENDED STATUS

What is Suspended Status Mean for Me?

• You can earn recertification credits during an extended timeframe

• You cannot use your designation

• You will not be listed in the Certified Directory

• The Institute will not be able to verify your credentials to employers or potential employers

• However, once you successfully recertify, you will be reinstated

However, the time spent in Suspended status will not change your cycle dates. Therefore, it will shorten your next certification cycle as indicated below:

hrs maximum)

• All research must by conducted and focused outside of your organization to be eligible

Now that I am aware that I am in suspended status, what do I need to do in order to maintain my current certification?

You will need to update your recertification application online before your recertification end date.

What happens if my certification expires?

You will need to retest in order to regain your certification

Will the Birthday Rule apply to me if I am in Suspended Status?

No. If you are currently in suspended status, the birthday rule has not been implemented. However, once your recertification activities are submitted with payment and receive approval, the birthday rule will be applied to your end date.
