RECEP-ENELC was established on 30 May 2006 in Strasbourg, at the Council of Europe. It was created following Resolution 178 (2004) by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. It currently has 36 members from the regions, provinces, municipalities and other territorial authorities of 7 European countries. Understanding and acceptance of the landscape concept as defined by the ELC at the local and regional level following the principles of subsidiarity and self-government; Giving technical assistance to members in their activities aimed at ELC implementation: landscape identification and assessment, landscape quality objectives and public decisions concerning landscape protection, management and planning.
