1. After SICI’s IX Addendum to MoU with GoI, the Shastri Institute participated in 11th Technology
Summit and Technology Platform which was held in Delhi from 21st – 22nd September,2005. The
objective of the Summit was to facilitate networking between academics from India and Canada
who share similar interests in the theme areas identified for the Summit.
2. The first Bi-national conference was held on Bridging the Gap: Human Dimension of Science and
Technology from February 20-21, 2006 at Surajkund, Delhi. The objective was to explore the human
dimension and issues of applied science and technology research.
3. SICI, in partnership with Focus Canada, organized the “Canada-India Round Table: Towards
Education Linkages—Education, Trade and Technology” in Delhi on March 14, 2007. This was a bi-
national event, made possible by the financial support of the Government of Canada. We worked in
close association with the Focus India Education Working Group. The objective of this round table
was to involve a wider range of stakeholders in recognizing the strategic potential of bi-national
higher education linkages as a catalyst for deepening economic exchanges

4. In order to promote collaborative research, SICI launched a series of Regional and Thematic
Workshops across India, which were hosted by Indian member institutions. We chose a variety of
themes for these seminars—reflecting SICI’s broadened disciplinary mandate. These seminars were:
a. Seminar on “Trade, Technology and the Impact of Globalization—New Dimensions of India-
Canada Relations” was organized jointly by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
b. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur organized a seminar on “Fuel Cell Technology”.
This field of research has potentially important implications for energy and the environment. Prof. Samir Khandekar was the principal organizer.
c. The University of Assam Silchar organized the workshop on “Water and Sustainability
Issues”. The principal organizer was Prof. Abhik Gupta.
5. Shastri Office was engaged in facilitating the Health Sciences Networking Workshop for
the Quebec delegates at Bangalore in November 2006.
6. Canada-India Roundtable Table towards Education Linkages – Education, Trade & Technology was
held on 14 March, 2007 at Hotel Claridges, New Delhi.
7. Engaging Canada Conference titled “Engaging Canada: Emerging Priorities for Sustainable
Partnerships” held on May 30, 2014

On February 15, 2018, Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute and Government of Quebec, Canada jointly
organized a “Bilateral India-Quebec workshop on Climate Changes” at Inspire Room, Hotel Le
Meridien in New Delhi.
