Recce Form – Location #1 Description of the Location: The initial location will be the east- wing (derivative) entrance/exit of Southgate Secondary School. The gateway includes a solitary gate which has a solid black colour to it, and opens/closes at a steady and secure speed. Purpose: This gate will be imperative to the start of my opening sequence as it will emulate a prison gate (or entrance). The main character (which grows older due to the non-linear narrative) walks out of prison to glance down and reflect on how he got there in the first place. This is then revealed by a flash-back. The gate will be set behind the character (Hugo) during this entire scene with ‘prison guards’ either side patrolling the region. List three points that make this location suitable for the purpose: - Looks like a prison gateway. Has a dejected ‘prison’ feel to it which is ideal for the scene. - Not many cars passing during the day which again represents a ‘prison gateway’ idyllically. - Also, the sound volume will be minimal which complements the scene. List two points that might make this location unsuitable for your purpose: - Students’ walking around in the background might make the scene seem unrealistic. The gate is adjacent to a playing area. - If there are any visible signs stating that the gateway is attached to the secondary school. If you use this location what will you have to be aware of at all times? If I use this location I will have to be aware of passing cars entering or exiting the premises. Also, there is a road (Sussex Way) and there may be passing cars there too. Additionally, I will ensure that all the local residents are aware that I will be recording for a Media product, as they may assume something else. Will you use this location? Yes/ No Image of the Location:
